A ‘hidden gem’ beach has been named one of the finest in a region of England. Lauded as a “peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life”, it missed out on the title of best beach on the north east by one of its neighbours.
Away Resorts, a holiday park operator, has shone a spotlight on the magnificent beaches in Northumberland by releasing their top beaches list. Coming in at number one was the spectacular Bamburgh Beach – which was branded “one of the most iconic in the UK”.
But not far behind was Druridge Bay. Coming in second place, the seven-mile sandy stretch mesmerised the experts.
They were clearly smitten with Druridge Bay, writing: “A hidden gem along Northumberland’s coastline. It’s an ideal spot for beach walks year-round, birdwatching, walking, or enjoying a peaceful retreat away from the crowds.”
The serene atmosphere of Drudge Bay, which stretches from Amble to Cresswell, is a common theme among the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, where it boasts an impressive 4.5 rating. One visitor, awarding a full five stars, titled their review ‘peace and tranquility’, while another hailed it as an ‘ideal summer destination’.
A third reviewer was captivated by its beauty, exclaiming: “The water was so clear, you could see the bottom! We loved jumping the waves, and the waves were pretty impressive!”
Embleton Bay, Beadnell Bay, and Seahouses Beach followed in the rankings by Away Resorts as Northumberland’s top beaches, taking third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.
