Reacting to the news of the closure on Facebook, one person said: ‘Sad our little new look has closed. Just cafes, nail bars and barbers left now.’
New Look has closed another one of its stores this week after already shutting 37 sites so far in 2025. The fashion retailer has permanently closed its branch in Leigh Park, Hampshire.
The store was located in the Greywell Shopping Centre. Reacting to the news on Facebook, one person said: “Sad our little new look has closed. Just cafes, nail bars and barbers left now.”
Another said: “That’s such a shame.” A third person posted: “So sad no shops to buy from.” A fourth person commented: “The curse of online shopping, we are all to blame.”
It comes after Sky News reported that Alcentra and Brait, the owners of New Look, had hired investment bankers to explore a review of the business – and said this could result in the high street chain being auctioned off in the future.
Nothing has been announced by New Look and the company continues to trade as normal. The company had already shut almost 40 stores this year and announced new closures before the Sky News report was published.
The next closure will be New Look in Hamilton, Scotland, which will shut permanently on July 1, followed by its branch in Neath, Wales, which will pull down the shutters on August 6.
The Times reported earlier this year that New Look was looking to “accelerate future store closures” when leases expire. According to the report, around a quarter of its 364 UK stores – around 91 sites – could be at risk of closure.
New Look did not confirm this report at the time. In February, New Look also exited the Republic of Ireland which resulted in the closure of 26 stores.
