Holidaymakers urged to add one item to suitcase to ‘prevent creased clothes’

Holidaymakers have been urged to add one item to their suitcase to stop their clothes from creasing. The simple trick could make your holiday wardrobe a lot easier to manage

It’s always exciting to go on holiday, but packing is one part of the experience that can be stressful. As well as having to remember everything, trying to keep your clothes neat and tidy can be super difficult – after all, it’s hard to keep things looking fresh when you’re trying to pack so much into a suitcase.

However, one woman has recently shared a handy hack that could completely change everything. The woman, known as ruc952 on TikTok, said there’s a simple way to get “crease free” clothes when you travel, and it all centres around placing one common item in your suitcase in between clothes.

According to the savvy traveller, all you need is some tissue paper to aid you on your way to success. With holiday season in full swing, it’s something all tourists will be keen to know.

In the clip, she explained: “I just want to explain how I’ve been packing for trips for many, many years and this is guaranteed – no matter how long the clothes are in the suitcase. When you get them out, they won’t be creased at all.

“So, basically, this tissue paper, which I’ve been using for years, and it always keeps nice – so the first investment is a pile of tissue paper but, if you look after it, it will last for a long time.”

Demonstrating what to do, she added: “First layer of clothing going in, and the first layer of tissue paper over the garment. Next item – again, tissue on top, and the remainder of the dress over.”

She basically repeats the process for every item of clothing, and then she does something else at the end. Once the case is packed, she scrunches up some tissue and pops it down the sides of the suitcase.

According to her, this will help the clothes remain protected when the case moves around during the flight. Who knew something so light could make all the difference?

Does it work?

As unusual as the hack my seem, it actually does work. Little you may know, tissue paper can help prevent wrinkles in clothes, especially when packing for travel.

This is because it acts as a buffer between layers of fabric, and reduces friction that causes creases. If you place tissue paper in between folds, especially for delicate fabrics, it will aid in maintaining a smoother appearance.

It also helps to prevent big creases from forming, and it can also be used alongside other methods to bring better results. For example, some people like to roll their clothes in a bid to prevent creases.

There is one important thing you need to know before using the trick though. Generally, people are advised to use acid-free tissue paper, as this will help prevent colour transfer and material deterioration.

According to experts, it can make a huge difference to blouses, shirts and lightweight cotton items. If you’re about to go on holiday, it’s a hack well worth trying out.

Before you travel, it’s also worth checking if your hotel permits the use of irons, as sometimes they are not allowed to be used at certain accomodation.
