The huge new Home Bargains glass candle has proven a hit online, with shoppers told to ‘run’ to stores
Home Bargains has launched a huge new candle that’s got shoppers buzzing for its resemblance to an upscale brand. The budget-friendly store is now stocking an extra large glass candle for £14.99.
TikTok user @monochromeliving shared a video of Home Bargains’ Bordeaux 2kg glass candle, showing it off in store and then with it’s two wicks lit at home. The TikToker compared the product to one by much more expensive brand Baobab Collection.
In the caption, they wrote: “RUN don’t walk to @Home Bargains for this Baobab inspired candle!!” Text over the clip read: “RUN to Home Bargains for this XL candle £14.99!!”

The video also showed a photo of the Baobab candle next to the Home Bargains version, showcasing how similar they are in design. Both feature large glass jars, speckled with flecks of black to mimic the tones of natural pearls.
The candle shown is the BAOBAB Collection White Pearl Scented Candle 3kg, which is currently priced at £230 at Selfridges. Home Bargains’ Bordeaux 2kg glass candle is almost identical, but comes with a £14.99 price tag – this means shoppers could potentially save around £215 by opting for the budget alternative.
Home Bargains also recently launched a new ‘Aura’ beauty range that shoppers praised for its resemblance to more expensive brand Byoma. Among the offerings is the Aura Hydrating Face Serum, the Aura Balancing Cleansing Balm, Clarifying Face Mist and a Smoothing Rich Cream, and Balancing Eye Serum – prices start from £2.99.
The products from Home Bargains bear a striking resemblance to items from skincare brand Byoma, featuring almost identical bright, block colour packaging in rounded-edge bottles. There’s also a significant overlap in the ingredients used in each of the brand’s products, although there are some differences too.
Recently, the budget retailer started selling a high-end gift set, which usually costs nearly £40 for less than £10. L’Oreal’s Blemish Buster Gift Set has a recommended retail price of £38.99, but Home Bargains sells it for just £7.99, meaning customers could save as much as £31.
