Horror as father and daughter watch stranger STAB their two dogs at park

By staff13 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Marcus Norton and his daughter Chevonne McNamara Norton were enjoying a dog walk when tragedy struck – they have since shared horrifying details of the gruesome attack

What should have been a family dog walk in the park turned into every families wost nigthmare when their two dogs were stabbed with one left injured so severely that it had to be put down.

Marcus Norton was walking his Mastiff puppy, Chief, and an elderly Staffordshire terrier, Molly, at a park in Pinjarra, south of Perth, on Friday, October 10.

He told 9News that tragedy struck when the two dogs approached a stranger and his dog, Molly and Chief were stabbed. His daughter Chevonne McNamara Norton shared horrifying details of the gruesome attack.

“He cracked (Molly’s) skull, he punctured her lung, he stabbed her so deep on the back,” she said as she recalled the horror encounter.

In shock, they managed to rush to the dogs to the vets local Waroona Veterinary Clinic, Chelmford, for treatment. But despite best efforts associated veterinary surgeon Ashleigh Holgate found Molly’s injuries were too severe to be treated and saved.

Ms Holgate said: “Molly had some secondary issues due to her age, so it was decided it was better off for her to not go through the trauma of surgery”.

Following the sad news Ms McNamara Norton tearfully said: “My childhood pet that I grew up with is gone.”

Mr Norton added that Molly has been ‘harmless’ and that, while being approached by two dogs might have been intimidating, he was there if there was an issue.

He said: “It might have been daunting there. You’ve got two dogs coming your way and you panicked. (But) I was right there… I was talking to you. I was calling out to you, just hang on.”

Chief, who was also injured, is recovering and his wounds are due to heal over a matter of weeks.

“This has cost us more than $5500 that we don’t have, like, what the hell. He needs to answer for this” Mr Norton said in frustration.

According to MailOnline Western Australia Police have launched an investigation into the horror incident, and allege the dog belonging to the stranger had bite marks. They believe Molly and Chief were attacked with a multi-use tool.
