Rafael Moreno, 74, can be seen approaching one of the attendees of a house party in Buenos Aires on Wednesday around 6am and pulling out a .38 caliber revolver before the victim, Sergio Díaz, 40, intervened
A shocking video shows the disturbing moment a former cop murdered his neighbour over a Christmas Day noise complaint.
Rafael Moreno, 74, is seen walking up to a man who had been attending a house party at a property in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday before pulling out his revolver. As he wields the .38 calibre gun, fatal victim Sergio Diaz, 40, intervenes.
The suspect appears to be leaving before Díaz begins yelling at him and strikes him in the face. A raging Díaz is heard questioning him, saying: “Who do you think you are? Who do you think you are to pull out a gun on me?”
Moreno explains that he is a police officer before the victim shoves him hard. The suspect, a former federal officer, puts the barrel of his weapon against Díaz’s and pulls the trigger as he screams out in pain. His body crumples before he walks over to the sidewalk and falls over.
The killer remained at the scene while a witness called for an emergency response. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital in the area, where he died as a result of his gunshot wound. Meanwhile, the gunman was apprehended and taken into custody, where he was questioned by investigators.
The victim’s relative and the owner of the home where the house party was happening, Karina, told local media outlet TN that Moreno had told them, “Lower the music because this will end badly”.
They reportedly kept away from the police officer because he was a difficult neighbour. Karina said: “The least we thought was that he would react that way. He said two words and he fired, he (Díaz) didn’t have time to do anything.”
The killer’s wife told the station that there was another attendee seen carrying a gun, claiming that her husband said he had to shoot because a weapon was being pointed at him. “He probably shot because he had no choice,” she said. She added that her husband didn’t approach them to turn the music down, but because he wanted to stop them from breaking the gate of a nearby shop.
“The guys were trying to break it up, I didn’t hear any music,” she said. “He went and talked to them nicely. Then one of them came out with the gun and acted like he was crazy, but Rafael also had his gun.”
He faces a charge of aggravated homicide with the use of a firearm.
