Five people were taken to hospital following a collision between a black Mercedes-Benz car and Bee Network bus on Sunday and has led to a police investigation into the circumstances around the crash
A major update has been issued by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) after a double-decker bus crash left five people in hospital.
Firefighters rescued four people following the collision on Blackfriars Road, in Salford, at about 9:40pm on Sunday. Images taken from the scene showed the crash involved a black Mercedes-Benz car and a Bee Network bus.
Five people were taken to hospital following the crash, including the bus driver. Fire crews “extricated” the driver and three passengers from the bus before they were taken to hospital. A large police cordon was put in place overnight with the road reopening at around 6.30am this morning.
Police confirmed in a major update that all people taken to hospital had suffered no serious injuries. A GMP spokesman said: “At around 9.40pm last night (Sunday, December 29 2024), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a bus and a car on Blackfriars Road in Salford. No serious injuries were reported but a number of casualties were taken to hospital as a precaution.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.” Blackfriars Road reopened at about 6.30am this morning, the Manchester Evening News reported.
