If you were enjoying a tipple on New Year’s Eve, it is likely that somebody had a spillage – an expert cleaner has shared some advice on tackling those pesky stains
After ringing in the New Year, many of us might have had a little mishap with our drinks – particularly red wine.
It’s almost expected when you’re having fun and not keen on pausing the party to scrub away at accidental spills. But fear not! Even if today you still find yourself squaring off with daunting alcohol stains on your sofa or carpet that appear stubborn beyond belief, there’s still hope.
Rosen Delchev, an expert cleaner from Fantastic Services, has shared some advice on tackling those pesky stains. For red wine, keep it simple with water and vinegar. Rosen instructs: “Blot the stain with a clean cloth to absorb the excess liquid. Make sure to mix a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar.
“Continue with gently dabbing the stain with the solution using a clean cloth. After that, rinse with water and blot dry.” If you’ve spilled Baileys, reach for a mild detergent mixed with water after mopping up the initial spill with a paper towel. Rosen advises: “Rinse the area with clean water and again blot dry.” Had a mishap with your favourite tipple?
Fear not, as a cleaning guru has shared the perfect remedy for those pesky alcohol stains. First things first, blot the area with a clean cloth. Then, mix up some warm water with a few drops of dish soap, advises the expert. “Gently dab the stain with the solution, then rinse with water and blot dry.”
And if it’s a Guinness disaster, there’s a solution for that too. After soaking up the excess, whip up a mix of water and a mild detergent like dish soap. Keep on blotting, rinsing, and drying until it’s all clear.
