Move over leopard, cow print is officially here! This trending animal print is all over our high streets and we’re here to help you with some styling inspiration
Leopard print has always been in fashion (at least in my opinion), but the trend really took off last year thanks to the popular ‘mob wife’ aesthetic and designer brands showcasing the print on their runways. Although leopard print is still a big deal this year, there’s a new print taking over—cow print!
Undeniably linked to the cowboy core craze sparked by Taylor Swift and Beyoncé and the general rise in popularity of country music, cow print is everywhere this spring. From mules to tote bags, jackets and skirts, there really isn’t anything you can’t find in the animal-inspired motif.
If the Western trend isn’t your thing, don’t let it put you off. Although this print is a staple of that trend, we think many cow print fashion buys don’t fit into that look and have taken on a life of their own. With so many brands releasing items in this popular print, you can completely make the pieces your own, depending on your personal style. However, we’re here to help you out with a little styling inspiration.

THE MAXI SKIRT
M&S has just dropped a cow print satin slip skirt, and it’s selling fast! This is one of the easiest ways to incorporate cow print into your wardrobe. Simply treat the skirt similar to one you already own. We recommend pairing it with a simple white t-shirt and brown accessories, such as biker boots and a suede bag. You could also layer over a suede or leather jacket as we head into spring.
SHOP THE LOOK: Animal print midaxi skirt, M&S, £35 here; Everyday fit t-shirt, M&S, £8.50 here; Dayla boots, Schuh, currently £24 here; Suede shopper bag, Mango, £59.99 here; and Outta Love sunglasses, Le Specs, £55 here.
THE CLOG
If you’re not ready to commit fully to the cow print trend, a great way to try it out is with cow print shoes. I’ve seen a lot of cow print loafers dotting about but I’m obsessed with these clogs from Topshop. They look so cool and are also a great transitional shoe as we head into the new season. Team with some indigo denim jeans and a black blouse for a casual day outfit that looks effortlessly chic and put-together.
SHOP THE LOOK: Annie leather buckle clogs, Topshop, £55 here; Straight regular jeans, H&M, £37.99 here; Embroidered blouse, H&M, £22.99 here; and Ramona mini grab bag, Fiorelli, currently £26.55 here.
THE JACKET
More of a fashion maximalist? Why not go head first into the trend and opt for a cow print jacket or even a co-ord. To avoid looking too costume-y, we recommend teaming your jacket with a pair of ecru colorued jeans, any style you like from straight leg to wide-leg and turn-up hems. We also think brown suede pairs amazingly with cow print, don’t be afraid to mix and match different shades and tones of brown. These fisherman sandals from Dr. Martens are right on trend for the new season.
SHOP THE LOOK: Cow print collared jacket, YOURS Clothing, £39.99 here; The wide-leg jeans, M&S, £35 here; Wrenlie bronx fisherman suede sandals, Dr. Martens, £150 here; and Suede grab bag, M&S, £89 here.
THE TOTE BAG
Stay on the cowboy theme and team your cow print tote bag with a double denim look. Considering cow print is already pretty loud, we don’t think it’s the best for print clashing and looks most elevated when paired with simple denim looks. This bag from PLT is a great alternative to the completely sold-out & Other Stories tote bag.
SHOP THE LOOK: Oversized tote bag, Pretty Little Thing, currently £13 here; Mid blue denim jacket, Next, £48 here; Authentic denim jeans, Next, £26 here; and VL Court 3.0 trainers, Adidas, £60 here.
