OK! Beauty Box has joined forces with Delilah for the Capsule Collection, which contains six full-size products. It’s available at a massive discount. The box costs £49.99, while the total cost of the products amounts to more than £180 in total – a saving of more than £130.
If I do say so myself, I am a modern man.
I take on my portion of the domestic duties. I occasionally speak to my male friends on the phone. I know when Mother’s Day is. Right now I am wearing a pink shirt. But for all of the ways in which I have dodged becoming the hug-avoiding, birthday-forgetting, garden-shed-retreating male archetype of the generation above, there are some things I know next to nothing of.
Primarily beauty products.
Beyond purchasing an eyeliner pencil as a teenager in a bid to look like Mighty Boosh-era Noel Fielding, I have spent my days locked out of the makeup cabinet. In adulthood, this has presented me with an unexpected problem – buying makeup as a gift.
When it comes to choosing something from the airport duty-free section or MAC makeup counter for my wife, I do not know how much anything should cost, what a good brand is or how specific in my choice I need to be. I have a vague sense that opting for a foundation a few shades too orange/not orange enough is the cosmetic faux pas equivalent of being several dress-sized out.

And so, beauty products were removed from the list of potential gift options. That is, until now.
The recent rise of the beauty box has changed the game. Rather than plumping for one product and potentially getting it wrong, you can spread your bets across a whole range of items. More than likely, one will be a hit. Sometimes, they all are.
Whether it’s one, two or a few, the surprise element of the boxes – and their relative low cost – means it’s a banker of a gift.
So it proved to be when I recently ordered the latest OK! Beauty Box. This month it has joined forces with the brand for its latest brand takeover box, the Delilah Capsule Collection, which contains six full-size products. It’s available at a massive discount. The box costs £49.99, while the total cost of the products amounts to more than £180 in total – a saving of more than £130.
The beauty bundle includes mascara, colour-enhancing lip oil, an under-eye brightener and three others. It’s all vegan, PETA approved and comes in very nice packaging.
I sat with my wife as she opened the box this morning, and this is what she thought of each product:
Delilah Lip Saviour Colour Enhancing Lip Oil – 5ml full-size, RRP £30
“I have always wanted to try lip oil. I don’t know how it works, but I’m going to find out. It should enhance my natural lip colour.”
Delilah Lip Line Long Wear Retractable Lip Pencil in the shade Buff – 0.31g full-size, RRP £22.50
“I have had a few of these over the years. It’s always great to have defined lips.”
Delilah Definitive Volumising and Defining Mascara – 7.5ml full-size, RRP £28
“It is full-sized one, which is great. You always need a mascara because you always run out and they go dry.”
Delilah Stay The Night Smooth Shadow Stick in the shade Pink Champagne – 1.4g full-size, RRP £23.50
“It’s a nice universal colour. It looks like it’ll be very quick to apply with the smooth shadow stick.”
Delilah Wake Up Radiant Eye Perfector – 8ml full-size, RRP £28
“I don’t have one of these. It’ll be good to have in the summer when I want to look fresh without using concealer.”
Delilah Wake Up Radiant Hydrating Skin and Make-up Mist – 80ml full-size, RRP £34
“It smells nice. Rose and orange blossom. The perfect accompaniment to a spring day I reckon.”
To add to all of that, OK! Beauty Box buyers will receive a voucher to redeem four copies of OK! Magazine, RRP £17.60.
