‘I dropped 7lbs with simple breakfast change and my body feels so much better’

A woman has shared the simple change she made to her breakfast to help her go from 71kg to 64kg in just a matter of months without changing anything else about her diet or exercise routine

You don’t have to change your entire lifestyle overnight to make a positive impact on your body, instead, small simple swaps could be a great way to start. That’s exactly what one woman came to learn after making a simple breakfast change which helped her drop 7lbs in just four months.

While she admits she could have lost more weight if she’d have made more changes to her overall diet, she shared how starting small can impact your body and overall mindset about health and fitness. In a TikTok video, she said: “This is the breakfast I ate every single day to help me go from 71kg to 64kg. It takes literally five minutes and has 42 grams of protein.

“Having a high protein breakfast is such a game changer for me, keeping me satisfied throughout the entire day, which means I’m not snacking between meals.

“When you’re getting 40 to 60 grams of protein into your breakfast, you’re more likely to hit your protein goal earlier in the day.”

Sharing the ingredients of her healthy breakfast, she says all you need is two Weetabix, 150ml of semi-skimmed or full fat milk, 150g of 0% fat yoghurt, and about 30g of vanilla protein.

On top of this, she adds about 60g of raspberries or strawberries and 15g of melted Nutella.

Commenting on her video, one user said: “I’ve also lost a similar amount to you and I’m needing some new breakfast inspo – love this! Gonna try this week.”

Another user added: “I do the same but use protein Weetabix instead of fruit I put seeds brazil nuts and raw honey on proper nice.”

A third user said: “I had a bad batch of milk once and can’t handle this with Weetabix. I have managed to do it as granola though no milk.”

One more user added: “Swap the Weetabix out – milled flax seed, sunflower, pumpkin chia, goji plus walnuts and brazils, full fat Greek yoghurt and touch of decent honey.”

What the NHS says:

Sharing other breakfast ideas, the NHS suggests:

  • Pick porridge, muesli, wheat or bran cereals with semi-skimmed milk. Try to avoid cereals with added sugar and fat.
  • Boil an egg and have it with wholemeal bread soldiers.
  • Try wholemeal toast with peanut butter, jam or Marmite.
  • Go for it with grilled tomato on toast.
  • Launch your day with a lean grilled bacon sandwich.
  • Make fab fruit smoothies with plain low fat yoghurt or semi-skimmed milk.
  • Jazz up low-fat yoghurt by adding sliced fruit.
  • Blast off with a bagel with low fat cream cheese.

A NHS statement reads: “Breakfast is a very important meal. You’ve probably heard that before, but want to know why?

“After going 10 – 12 hours overnight without food, your energy reserves are low. Your body and brain now need fuel!

“Breakfast keeps you going until lunchtime. This helps you do better at school. It also stops you feeling hungry mid-morning. This is the danger zone when you might be tempted to eat crisps or chocolate at break time!”
