Philippa Davis claims to have a “banging body” for her age having dropped five dress sizes in just over a year after piling on the pounds during the first Covid-19 lockdown
A woman has admitted to having a “banging body” at 56-years-old after dropping five dress sizes in just over a year. Philippa Davis embarked on her weight-loss journey in 2023 after piling on the pounds during the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.
Philippa, from East Sussex, went from a size 18 to a size eight in just 15 months – losing more than five stone in the process. Weighing 16st 2lb at her heaviest, Philippa says she was in “constant pain” from the excess weight.
“I was in constant pain with my back, hips and neck which left me struggling to exercise,” she says. “I turned into a monster while trying every diet under the sun to lose weight.”
After falling victim to fad diets, Philippa contacted numerous weight-loss companies for support. “I paid one company hundreds of pounds,” she admits.
The unnamed company refunded Philippa after their ‘1,200 calories a day’ diet failed to turn in results for the company director. “I saw no change to my weight,” she admits.
“I was at a point where I was unable to look in the mirror – I felt like a wreck. I had incredibly low self confidence.”
But in 2023, everything changed. Philippa discovered Numan, a digital healthcare provider that offered weight-loss medications combined with expert support along the way.
She started the programme in October, initially using Wegovy before switching to Mounjaro. Philippa has lost over five stone since starting the medication, admitting she feels “happier than ever” since embarking on the controversial journey.
“My self-confidence is off the charts,” she says. And after being single for eight years, Philippa has started dating again.
“I can rock any outfit now as I have a banging body for a 56-year-old,” she jokes. Despite once struggling to walk due to pain, Philippa has said doctors are “dumbfounded” by her transformation.
She adds: “I genuinely believe I’m the happiest person alive. It’s been the best investment I ever made. My whole life has been totally transformed.”
Philippa even thinks she’s added two decades onto her lifespan by ditching the excess weight in a bid for a healthier lifestyle.
“For the first time in my life, I’m no longer afraid of ageing. I have added another twenty years onto my life, minimum,” she says. “Now I feel ready to take on the world, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I’m going to enjoy every single minute of life’s adventure with my new body.”
But despite her drastic weight loss, Philippa wants to warn others to be wary of unregulated weight-loss schemes. There has been a huge increase in the number of Brits using medication to lose weight, with figures reaching 500,000 in January.
Philippa adds: “The support of Numan’s clinicians, health coaches, and experts has been invaluable. Personalised care is key, and that’s exactly what Numan provides.
“Avoid schemes that aren’t clinically managed. These medications can be life-saving when used properly.”
