‘I had debilitating menopause bloating for years – one thing finally fixed it’

By staff7 July 2025No Comments5 Mins Read

Liz Bhagat suffered from severe bloating for over a decade, but it was only when she demanded to be listened to by her GP that she finally found a solution

Liz Bhagat’s world turned upside down when the grief of losing her father plunged her into an early menopause. The personal stylist from Hertfordshire, who was in her late 30s at the time, endured the physical toll on her body but found herself repeatedly brushed off by doctors for half a decade.

Taking matters into her own hands, Liz ordered a hormone test online and insisted that her concerns be taken seriously. Despite finally being heard, the GP’s prescribed medication did little to alleviate her increasingly unbearable symptoms, including severe bloating that made her hesitant to eat and too self-conscious to don her favourite outfits.

Married to Lee for almost 27 years and mother to two daughters, Liz, now 52, vividly remembers the onset of menopausal symptoms in her late 30s. “I had recently lost my father from a rare illness that meant we cared for him at home,” she said.

“It was an extremely sad and difficult time and I feel like the stress impacted my hormones and sent me into menopause. The doctor wouldn’t listen to me for over five years and said I was too young.”

Frustrated and seeking relief, Liz’s internet hormone test confirmed she was perimenopausal. Armed with evidence, she confronted her doctor, demanding attention. This led to a decade-long journey with various HRT treatments.

“But everything that I tried didn’t seem to be helping,” said Liz, who had been on a medicinal gel for some time without any success. Over a decade, she tried sprays, various gels and patches, but none led to positive outcomes.

“I was so desperate and feeling so awful so I pushed to be referred to a specialist and have separate hormone blood tests done,” Liz said.

After taking separate tests for her oestrogen, testosterone and progesterone levels, it was revealed that her body was not absorbing topical oestrogen in any form.

“For almost 10 years I was taking oestrogen and my body wasn’t absorbing it, so I was not feeling any of the benefits, which was very frustrating as the doctors were not listening to me,” Liz explained. “This showed my oestrogen levels were extremely low.”

Liz was prescribed tablets and testosterone gel, after which she spent another three years finding the correct balance for her hormone levels.

“I’ve done this myself by researching and pushing for blood tests, monitoring what my levels were and altering my dose,” said Liz. She managed to feel like herself again eventually, though she still struggled with persistent bloating.

During her journey, Liz had a coil removed to see if it was contributing to the issue, and after no change in a year, she decided to have it replaced.

Struggling with persistent bloating, Liz tried countless treatments from medical professionals and natural remedies to no avail. Scans and tests came back with no answers.

“I put it down to menopause and it’s definitely a menopausal symptom that’s rarely talked about,” admitted Liz. “But more and more women are suffering with this and it’s impacting our daily life, making us feel sluggish and tired constantly.

“I eliminated foods from my diet and nothing helped. I have suffered with IBS since my 20s, but I found that in menopause it was a whole other level that I just couldn’t manage myself.”

The impact of the bloating affected Liz’s everyday activities and her overall mood, making her feel tired and self-conscious.

Despite trying various remedies such as changing her diet and taking supplements, she failed to find any relief for her condition. The bloating seriously disrupted her social engagements and influenced her clothing choices.

Dining out became a source of anxiety for Liz due to the inevitable discomfort, forcing her to be picky with her wardrobe to fit her fluctuating figure.

“I was at my wits’ end trying to find a cure for the bloating,” Liz said. “It was becoming a real problem for me to eat a meal and it wouldn’t matter if it was full of carbs or a salad, my body would have the same bloating effect. It began to control my life. I’ve always worked out and had a healthy lifestyle, but I was burning myself out trying to get rid of this bloating stomach and feel myself again.”

Liz’s battle with persistent bloating left her feeling upset and on the verge of losing hope until she stumbled upon Neuaura Bloatburn.

Despite her initial scepticism born from previous let-downs, Liz took a leap of faith with Neuaura. The first month didn’t bring much change, but as she continued into the second month, something incredible happened.

“I had already tried different natural supplements which hadn’t helped,” Liz said. “When I first started taking them I really didn’t notice a huge difference.

“It took a couple of months, but now I have changed the way I take them. When I began to actually empty the capsules into water and drink it before my main meal, I felt like it absorbed straight away and that worked even better for me.”

Now Liz is overjoyed to be able to enjoy meals and slip into her favourite outfits without the dread of bloating.

“After taking it for over five months and eating a healthy, high-protein diet, not eliminating any food groups, working out five times a week, including lots of walking and not burning myself out, I finally feel great again,” Liz said.

“I feel comfortable at last, but if I go out for a meal and forget to take Bloatburn with me I feel the difference – so it’s an important part of my routine now.”
