Shopping Writer Meghan recently put Ninja’s latest kitchen gadget, the slushy maker, to the test – she said she ‘was surprised by how easy and simple it was to set up and use’
After a trip to Dublin, where we had the most amazing frozen mango daiquiris, my boyfriend and I wanted to try making them at home. Though we both have experience making cocktails thanks to years working in bars, we’d never tried making frozen cocktails before, and the prospect of preparing them was a tad daunting.
Thankfully, we got our hands on the sold-out Ninja Slushi Frozen Drink Maker, which was a godsend when it came to whipping up delectable drinks for our friends and family.
It is easy to set up and boasts an incredibly easy-to-use control system that doesn’t require knowledge of other Ninja products or bar experience. The Ninja Slushi was out of the box and ready to go in less than five minutes.
The best news is that you can whip up your favourite frozen drinks with this gadget without any hassle or complicated instructions—it is back in stock in one place. But you’ll need to hurry; the last time Currys had stock, in December 2024, it sold out in 12 hours. So you’ll need to act fast if you don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to get your hands on one before they vanish again.

Setting this gadget up means taking it out of the box. Aside from the power cable and drinks tray, everything is assembled already, so you don’t have to try assembling it yourself. It is just a case of plugging it in, clipping the drinks tray into place, and away you go.
Plus, you don’t need your own ice – though you can add some if you prefer ice-cold drinks.
To mix your drinks, you can select one of the five available presets—Slushi, Frozen Cocktail, Frappé, Milkshake, or Frozen Juice. In this case, we obviously selected the cocktails option. The hatches are labelled for where you need to pour in the relevant mixtures, and the tank can hold up to 2L. To taste how well this gem would work, we only made 850ml and added that to the machine.
The instructions recommend allowing for up to an hour for your mix to freeze, though, for our smaller portion, it took roughly 25 minutes before the liquids were visibly frozen. After they were done, it was just the case of popping a glass under the nozzle and pouring – it could not be easier.
The almost completely sold-out machine would be perfect for parties, BBQs, or a cheeky cocktail night like ours. It boasts an impressive WhisperChill compressor that runs surprisingly quietly, so you can set it going at any time of day, anywhere in the house, and it won’t disturb anyone – we barely noticed it was on.
Better still, the frozen drink maker transforms liquids into the perfect slushes at a very impressive speed, so you don’t have to wait more than 25 minutes to sip your next frozen cocktail – which is also ideal if you run out and want to keep the party going, as it won’t take long to whip up another batch that’s just as good.
The machine can keep drinks frozen for up to 12 hours (excluding dairy recipes), so you can concoct a batch in the morning and enjoy it later in the day, which is what we did with the cocktails, but it would also come in handy for whipping up your morning frappe, the night before.
Retailing for £349.99, the Ninja Slushi is currently in stock at Currys – though it’s advisable to act fast, as this gem doesn’t hang around.
You can buy the Ninja SLUSHi 72 oz Professional Frozen Drink Maker from Amazon for £545, or if you prefer a slightly different product, you can buy the Ninja CREAMi Deluxe 10-in-1 Ice Cream and Frozen Drink Maker from Lakeland or Freeman’s for £199.99.
