‘I signed up to dating app for banter – but it quickly made me realise truth’

A woman has shared she doesn’t believe anyone has ever found love on dating apps, saying she finds them quite funny herself but couldn’t take it seriously at all

Dating can be a mixed bag, but one woman has made a bold claim about dating apps, claiming they can be “fun,” but not appropriate for finding long-term love. Saffron, who posts on TikTok as @saffronmariexx, claimed there is “no way people use dating apps to find love,” saying she doesn’t “believe it for a second”.

She continued: “Using a dating app for a laugh – I can totally see why people would do that. Anyway my time on a dating app was short and sweet. Thanks but no thanks.” She then proceeded to give people some advice on how to navigate dating apps.

Saffron claimed dating apps should be used “if you’re feeling down,” because compliments will come in thick and fast.

She said she downloaded an app one night with her friend, saying they thought it would be “so jokes”. Saffron said she received an “influx” of messages overnight, and couldn’t believe it.

Saffron then shared one of the messages from “thirsty men” she received was someone referring to her as Rachael.

“I don’t know who Rachael is. I mean, I get it, he’s copied and pasted the message, it saves time, totally get that. But he could’ve at least edited the name,” she seethed.

She continued: “Someone sent me the lyrics to Grease Lightning – I actually rate that one, I think that’s quite funny. And then someone else messaged and said one thing I need to know about them is that their fish will always be first.”

Saffron couldn’t believe the man had said that, but shared she found it “such a giggle” to receive messages.

In the comments, one woman shared she agreed with Saffron, and had received messages that were completely irrelevant.

She wrote: “Omggg yes, someone kept telling me they loved my deep brown eyes… me blinking my bright blue eyes.”

Saffron replied: “Girl, they don’t even read the messages they send.”

A different woman shared she had found love online, however, penning: “I found someone on a dating app and been with then for 5 years.”

Saffron asked her about the message her now-partner had sent her, saying the messages she and her friend had received were “not the one”.

The woman replied, saying: “Honestly, I got a lot of weird people message me asking for you know what… but my partner now was just messaging me genuinely, if that makes sense, asking how I am, asking all the right questions.

“I was speaking to him for a little while before I gave him my number, and then we went out on a date and clicked immediately!”

Somebody shared that once they had “over 3,000 messages” on a dating app, saying they were “never going to reply to that many messages”.
