‘I spent years battling flat hair, but this £26 volumising haircare range saved me’

For years, I’ve been grappling with flat, lifeless hair, regardless of the number of styling products I used, my freshly volumised look would inevitably collapse within 30 minutes. I’d essentially resigned myself to the fact that unless I was off to a hairdresser, my aspirations for full, bouncy hair were doomed.

That changed when I discovered Philip Kingsley’s Body Building collection. I’d heard positive reviews, but after consistently using the products for a few weeks, they genuinely transformed my tresses.

As a result my hair feels fuller, glossier, and healthier. The great news is that the Body Building set, which includes travel sizes of shampoo, conditioner, root-boosting spray, and plumping cream, is currently discounted to £26 from £55 via Philip Kingsley’s website.

It’s an ideal opportunity to sample the range without committing to the full-size price tag, particularly for those wary about splashing out on products that might not work for them. Additionally, a broader selection of Philip Kingsley products are also marked down.

This includes the full-sized Body Building Shampoo and Conditioner (£49.28 from £56), making it a good time to try the range or replenish favourites. Naturally, Philip Kingsley isn’t the only brand offering volumising solutions.

The haircare set includes the Body Building Shampoo (75ml), Body Building Conditioner (75ml), Maximiser Root Boosting Spray (60ml), and Maximiser Strand Plumping Cream (20ml).

Living Proof’s Full Shampoo and Conditioner (£52, Cult Beauty) are cult favourites for a reason, promising weightless volume and softness without build-up, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Alternatively, Color Wow’s Raise the Root Spray (£21.50, Look Fantastic) is another top-seller, providing serious lift without leaving hair feeling sticky or rigid. Plus, it’s a hit among celebrity stylists (Kim Kardashian’s hairdresser is reportedly a fan).

Returning to Philip Kingsley, the first thing that struck me was its sleek packaging and scent. It has the look of a product you’d find in a high-end salon, and the products have a fresh, clean fragrance that isn’t too strong.

The shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling soft and nourished, but it wasn’t until I used the Root Boosting Spray and Strand Boosting Cream that I saw a real transformation.

The spray gave my roots a lightweight lift that lasted, with no stiff or crunchy texture – just natural bounce. While the plumping cream took some getting used to (use sparingly unless you want sticky strands), it made styling considerably easier.

My usual hot brush routine actually maintained its shape for hours, which is a first for me. After two weeks of consistent use, I compared some older photos and was genuinely taken aback by the difference.

My hair appeared shinier, fuller and healthier (see feature image). While the full-size products are somewhat of an investment (the 250ml shampoo sells for £28), the results make it worthwhile.
