Back when Shopping Writer Meghan used to work 10-hour shifts on her feet in a busy restaurant, she ‘absolutely swore by’ these best-selling Skechers for avoiding aching feet and they’re now on sale
If there’s one thing that you need to add to your wardrobe when working in hospitality or any role that involves a lot of time on your feet, it’s a good pair of shoes. I worked in a busy restaurant for seven years, and it took me ages to find a decent pair of shoes that wouldn’t leave me with blisters or pains at the end of a long night – and which wouldn’t break the bank. And after searching high and low, I found these Skechers were the clear winner.
And what’s more, they’re currently on offer thanks to Amazon’s Spring Deals Week, so you can get your own for less.
After battling with Vans, which didn’t offer much support and left my feet aching at the end of a shift, I tried Nike running shoes – which were a great choice, but they didn’t have much longevity. With that much wear-and-tear from wearing them, sometimes 11 or 12 hours every day for six days straight, I found their support quickly went, and my feet would be hurting by the end of the day. That’s when I decided to give Skechers a spin, and I haven’t looked back.

These Skechers Women’s Arch Fit trainers normally retail for £89 – which isn’t the most affordable price tag – but when I say they last, I mean it. I’ve had these shoes for years, and they’ve been put through the wringer at work. Once I started wearing them outside of work, they’re still intact and look and feel relatively untouched.
Getting a pair in black to match my uniform but also to have plenty of styling versatility outside of work hours, I bought these shoes in 2022, and I can still wear them without any of the usual aches and pains that come with older, well-worn shoes. The cushioned lightweight midsole has moulded to the shape of my feet, ensuring a comfortable fit every time, and it hasn’t lost any of its cushioning over the years; they’re still just as comfortable as the first time I put them on.
Speaking of, did I mention these shoes didn’t need breaking in? I popped them on for my first shift, armed with blister plasters just in case, and found my feet unscathed when I got home.
Like another pair of Skechers I’ve owned, these shoes come with a removable insole. This insole helps mould to your foot to reduce shock and increase weight dispersion. However, if the sole gets worn down or loses some of its comfort, it’s easy to replace for that good-as-new feeling.

Designed for high-intensity wear, i.e. sports, these shoes also boast a flexible traction outsole, which keeps them super lightweight and easy to move in, making them a great pick for those spending a lot of time on their feet and moving around a lot. They were ideal in a restaurant, where you are sometimes moving quickly with a need for manoeuvrability when it’s busy, and these definitely stepped up to the mark. I wasn’t weighed down, nor was I restricted in movement in any way.
Plus, these trainers’ outer design features athletic mesh knit fabric with top stitching, offering plenty of breathability and airflow, reducing any smells and ensuring your feet don’t get too warm – which I found was a lifesaver during the summer months.
And for bonus points, the Archfit line of Skechers is designed with a podiatrist shape in mind to ensure your feet and ankles are better supported at all times by redistributing pressure and preventing strain on any one part of your foot. This means at the end of a long and busy shift, I could come home and take my shoes off without my feet aching all over.
They are so comfortable and practical, and a game-changer for working long hours in a hospitality environment, I even recommended them to a friend who worked in care, as she struggled with lower-leg, ankle and foot pain after long nights walking around a ward.
Coming in various colours and colour combinations, those wishing to join me in my love for Skechers can do so without splurging too much cash, as Amazon has slashed their prices down as low as £51.59. Plus, they come in a broad range of sizes from 3 to 9, with options for those (like me) with wider feet and half-sizes to ensure the best fit possible. It is worth noting prices may vary depending on your colour and size choices.
If you’d prefer to shop elsewhere, you can buy my favourite pair of trainers directly from Skechers for £90 or from Pavers for £69.99 in black and white.
