‘I tried every item at McDonald’s in Spain and one is a must for UK’

By staff30 September 2025No Comments6 Mins Read

A British food reviewer has shared her thoughts on the McDonald’s Spanish menu and has ranked all 18 items on the menu from worst to best – here’s what she thought

A renowned British food critic has delivered her verdict on McDonald’s Spanish offerings after sampling the menu for the very first time. When jetting off on holiday, most of us prefer to savour local delicacies rather than chains we can easily find back home.

But some beloved brands serve up completely different menus that simply aren’t available in Britain – and fast food giants look vastly different across the globe. McDonald’s restaurants vary dramatically from city to city, with both their design and menu selections differing significantly.

The Spanish menu has previously boasted items like an Eggs Benedict sarnie, a unique McFish served only with ketchup, plus breakfast choices including potato tortilla sandwiches and toast topped with jamón ibérico – all markedly different from our UK offerings.

Becca, aged 28, who brands herself as a straight-talking food critic, decided to put it to the test.

The reviewer, famous as Becca Eats Everything on TikTok where she’s amassed more than 500K followers, scored 18 dishes from the Spanish McDonald’s menu that Brits simply can’t get their hands on.

Languishing at number 18 is a square-shaped burger priced at €7.50 [£6.55] – the Chicken and Cheese Burger topped with bacon bits.

Becca remarked: “There’s quite a strong mustard-y flavour and the quality of the chicken patty, I’d say it’s like a worse McNugget. It’s also quite dry.”

She awarded it a disappointing 2.5/10. She also sampled the Topped Fries with Cheese and Bacon for €4.95 [£4.33]. Becca candidly admitted: “McDonald’s fries are typically floppy and I think for this to work it needs crispier chips…that’s a three out of 10.”

On the more budget-friendly end of the menu, there’s a McSaver Chicken Barbeque and Cheese burger for €1.75 [£1.53].

Becca placed it at number 16 on her ranking as she declared she’s “really not a fan of this cheap chicken”. She gave it a score of 3.5/10.

She also sampled “some bizarre looking things” called Chicken Pops, which she described as dry and lacking in flavour, earning the snacks a 4/10 rating.

Becca was also astonished to discover a McExtreme Pulled Pork Burger on the menu. Costing €9.50 [£8.30], it features a larger bun with bacon, pulled pork and smoked cheese.

Becca remarked: “It’s not bad. That cheese on the bottom is very smokey and quite salty. There is some sort of maple leaf flavour that is quite pungent.” She gave it a score of 5/10.

One item that Becca maintains she was most eager to sample was the McExtreme Dip In Cheeseburger.

Becca described: “So, you get a pot of cheese sauce and in here [the burger bun] we have got a burger sauce, two rashers of cheese, and then bacon on the bottom.” Becca declared the burger on its own was “absolutely amazing”.

Nevertheless, she was left gutted after dunking her burger into the cheese sauce. Becca continued: “Oh no, what is the appeal? It tastes like cheesy butter. An awful consistency. So shiny.” She gave the item a 5/10 rating.

In 12th place is the Chicken Caesar Salad for €7.67 [£6.70] which she gave a 5/10. And securing 11th place with a rating of 6/10 is the White Chocolate Sundae for €3.75 [£3.28].

Becca said she “liked the ice cream and the consistency is good and creamy”, but she wished the white chocolate sauce was not just on the top.

The McExtreme Bacon Burger, priced at €9.10 [£7.95] claimed 10th place in the review. “It just tastes like a bacon and cheese burger…it is what it is, it’s alright,” said Becca. She gave a rating of 6/10.

One delicacy on the menu that made her feel nostalgic is the McShaker Fries with Sour Cream.

Becca said: “This is such an interesting concept, so you have your fries in the bag and then you pour in this sour cream mixture and you shake. It feels like something from the ’90s.”

Becca said she “doesn’t mind” the product and it reminds her of the Sour Cream and Onion Pringles. She gave the fries a rating of 7/10.

Securing 8th place is the Honey and Mustard Salad for €8.07 [£7.05], which Becca also gave a 7/10. Meanwhile in 7th place is Chicken Wings for €3.07 [£2.68] which Becca says are “pretty good”.

She added: “The chicken is tender.” In 6th place, Becca sampled the Spicy Wedges with Cheese and Bacon for €4.95 [£4.33]. “Ooo, see that works,” she exclaimed after her first bite, adding: “They’re slightly spiced with paprika…can we please have these in McDonald’s [UK]. I would order them every single time.” She awarded the wedges a score of 8.5/10.

Next up at number 5 were the Camembert Bites, setting Becca back €4.60 [£4.02]. “They are good, really creamy, love the crunch.” she commented, giving them a solid rating of 9/10.

In 4th place, Becca selected the “messy looking” McCrispy Bacon and Barbecue Burger for €8.12 [£7.09]. “It is really smoky on the tongue, I like the chicken…these sort of egg-washed brioche rolls are fantastic. Why do we not have this? This would be an excellent edition.” she remarked.

First, second & third

Moving onto the medal positions, Becca tried the Deluxe Fries for €4.90 [£4.28], commenting: “They’re delicious. The potato is creamy, lightly spiced.” She gave the fries a high rating of 9.5/10.

The runner-up spot was claimed by the Chips Ahoy McFlurry for €4.30 [£3.76]. Becca explained: “You can get this with three different types of sauce, you can get milk chocolate, white chocolate or even caramel – I went for the caramel.” After tasting it, she declared: “This is insane compared to ours. Wow.” She gave a rating of 9.5/10.

Finally, taking the top spot was the Pistachio McFlurry for €4.30 [£3.76]. Becca was clearly impressed, exclaiming: “Oh my gosh, that pistachio flavour is good. Wow.” She also gave it a top rating of 9.5/10.

‘Spanish McDonald’s beats British any day’

One person commented on the post, saying: “Had a Spanish McDonald’s the other week when coming back from Salou, flying from Barcelona, can’t remember exactly what I had but was better then anything iv had in the UK, the range on their menu is far better then the UK’s too.

“Spanish McDonald’s beats your British one any day,” another insisted. “We have the best McDonald’s in Spain,” agreed a local.

“I would order anything in the top 6,” another person insisted. “The McShaker fries are insanely good,” added one other.

Another shared: “I had a Maccies in Benidorm a few years back and the burger had a fried egg with a runny yolk in it and I still think about it to this day.”
