‘I tried Megababe’s anti-chafe stick – it’s a lifesaver for the heatwave’

By staff27 June 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Megababe’s anti-chafe stick promises to help banish any irritation, so Mirror writer Niamh Kirk decided to give it a try to see if it could cure her hot weather gripe

While the hot weather is glorious, and I find myself finding any excuse to get outside in the sunshine – I’ve never done so many lunch break walks in my life – it also comes with some pretty irritating side effects.

Chafing is, and has always been the bane of my life, especially when I fancy wearing a pretty summer dress or cycling shorts. The red, irritated and hot skin on my thighs feels as if I’ve just set fire to my legs, and sometimes I even get rashes that can last all evening.

It got to a point where I’d have to wear shorts under a dress just to stop the rubbing – but would then have to suffer with having two layers on my legs, which would be equally as worse. So when I came across Megababe’s Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafe Stick, I knew I needed to give it a go.

Formulated with aloe, vitamin E, pomegranate seed extract, and grapeseed oil, it’s full of good ingredients that melts instantly into skin and is cooling and relieving. You simply just glide this anti-friction balm over your arms, thighs or anywhere that tends toward roughness or chafing.

It also has a toxin-free formula includes soothing aloe and antioxidant-rich vitamin E to keep skin happy and hydrated, so it’s a win win. What I first noticed was the smell, it smells absolutely divine, and I felt confident with it on knowing it smelt good. When applied, it glided so gracefully onto my legs and didn’t even need rubbing in.

It comes in a solid balm, but instantly turns oily as you start to apply. It applied liberally, and covered up the areas well which I was pleased about, as I was worried about it being a little dry or even too oily, it wasn’t. Perhaps a little more on the oily side and perhaps I used too much as it left me feeling a little too wet. But despite it smelling and going on nicely? How did it hold up?

It’s clear to say this stuff lasts. Despite being thoroughly put to the test in 30C heat in London – the tubes are where the real chafing starts to happen – I didn’t get any irritation.

Due to it being so hot and sticky on my morning commute and at work, I noticed I had sweat off a lot of it by the time I was making my way home, so I had to reapply before I made my way home, but it was more a precaution than a neccessity.

My only issue is that I am worried it may be quite oily, especially if it heats up in my bag during the day. I have also seen others say the oil has left stains on their clothes, so I am going to be quite wary of this in the future. Nevertheless, I am thrilled to have found a product that finally works.

You can buy Megababe from Amazon for £13.20 or from Boots for £9.60.
