With ‘Mocha Mousse’ crowned the colour of 2025, I tried beauty brand Morphe’s new collection which features some warm, comforting hues of brown
Last month, Pantone released the 2025 colour of the year: Mocha Mousse. Professional-grade makeup Morphe’s holiday makeup collection features the same rich hue and as a beauty writer, I got to try it out.
The mellow brown colour is perfect for nailing quiet luxury and hints at the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate and coffee. Morphe has dropped two new shades on its lip mousse, SoulMatte – Wifey and Kiss Goodbye (£12.06 in a lip duo, worth £18).
While nude is not my usual lip shade, I gave the new Morphe hues a go. Morphe’s SoulMatte formula claims to “resist settling into lip lines, smudging, or fading for a long-lasting, soft focus effect, and velvety smooth feel”.

I did like the non-sticky and non-drying texture of the lip mousse but I found the shade Wifey, a cool-tone nude, too light for my liking. It didn’t look flattering with my fair yellow skin. On the other hand, Kiss Goodbye, a cool-tone medium brown, was much better on me. The matte finish also gives your lips a plump look.
Moving on to face products, Morphe’s Huephoric Rush 3-In-1 Silk Blush in shade Staying Neutral is the hero item in the holiday collection. Infused with silky, skin-blurring, hyaluronic filling spheres, vegetable collagen, and bamboo extract, the blush doubles as pore-blurring primer with skincare benefits.
I was too excited to try the blush and ruined the swirl pattern by shoving my thumb straight in the pad, with that said, the lid was slightly stiff and it’s best to flip it upside down to avoid making my mistake.
The blush melts on conta ct without a greasy feel and the neutral pink colour gives a natural look, perfect for pairing with smokey eyes or bold red lips.
It’s completely buildable and I only needed to apply a few dabs across the cheeks for a pinched look. Staying Neutral is currently out of stock at Boots, but it’s available at Selfridges and reduced from £16 to £10.72.
Other Mocha Mousse-themed makeup buys include Suqqu’s Comfort Lip Fluid Glow liquid lipstick in shade 108 Fuyushijima, which delivers high shine. It’s also on sale at £25.50 instead of £34.
RMS Beauty’s Legendary Serum Lipsticks are also available in nude and the closest shade to Mocha Mousse, in my opinion, would be Jayne. Shoppers can purchase it at SpaceNK for £33.
