This celebrity make-up brand has just launched a new mascara, and beauty fans are obsessing about how long it makes lashes look. Our beauty editor Laura tried it out…
As someone with fair lashes, I wear mascara almost every day, and so I’m always on the lookout for the best ones. I’ve got a few favourites that I come back time and time again, but when I saw Haus Labs’ new mascara going viral for supposedly giving unbelievably long lashes, I just had to try it out.
Haus Labs is the make-up brand founded by Lady Gaga, and its new mascara is called B Structural Volumizing + Lengthening Mascara, which costs £27 from Sephora (so not the cheapest, but not as expensive as some designer brand ones). Haus Labs describes this smart formula as delivering ‘5x fanned-out volume that’s nourishing and lengthening’, while shoppers are saying their “lashes have never looked better” after using this – and after testing it myself, I have to agree.

Pros
- Gives incredible length
- Gives loads of volume
- Extra-black colour
- Doesn’t irritate the eyes
- Bristly brush coats all the lashes really well
Cons
- Lashes look a little spidery with multiple coats, which might not be everyone’s preference
- There’s a small amount of flaking under the eyes by the end of the day
- I don’t find the brush very easy to use on the lower lashes
I’d heard great things about the Haus Labs foundation (Molly-Mae Hague has said she’s a fan) but this mascara was the first product from the brand that I’d tried – and it has really impressed me. It has a thick, bristled brush, slightly hourglass-shaped (but not dramatically so), with a more pointed end; I usually prefer silicone brushes but I found this really effective for coating every millimetre of my lash hairs, and getting right between the roots.
The lengthening effect is undeniable, and instant – my natural lashes are quite long but they’re fine, fair and flimsy, but in just a few swipes this mascara had them visibly nearly reaching my eyebrows – I’ve honestly never seen them look so long. It also gives pretty dramatic volume – no natural fluffiness here, this is for full-on, spiders’-legs lashes. It sounds a bit ridiculous but I think it does make them look like ‘Lady Gaga’ lashes, think around the Poker Face era – super-long, super-spiky and super-black.
It also lasts really well throughout the day thanks to its nourishing formula, with only a very tiny amount of flaking towards the end of the day (it’s even no match for most face cleansers).
It’s definitely not one for those who like a natural look, but this is the best mascara I’ve tried for giving incredible length and volume.
If it’s softer, fluffier lashes and a drier formula you’re after, you might prefer the new Benefit Badgal Bounce Mascara, currently down from £27 to £21.60 – you can read my full review of it here.
Meanwhile two of my favourite high street mascaras are currently reduced as part of Amazon’s big Spring Sale: Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High in Cosmic Black, was £12.99, now £7.4, and L’Oréal Paris Panorama Mascara, now reduced slightly from £12.99 to £12.32.
