‘I tried viral Dubai chocolate desserts and would make one important change’

By staff26 June 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Dubai chocolate is the flavour of the moment, and the pistachio goodness can be seen on shelves everywhere – from M&S to Aldi – but how did Creams’ effort match up?

All things pistachio and Dubai chocolate are all the rage – and everybody is trying to put their own stamp on the trend in some way. Supermarkets including Aldi, Lidl and M&S have provided their own takes on the craze. So, when Creams Cafe promised they could outshine the rest of the competition, I wanted to see how they would measure up. Given how much hype the products have had, I was expecting some seriously big things.

Taking to Instagram, Creams shared a picture of the shake, penning: “Our Dubai Chocolate loaded shake has only been available in our cafes for a week, but the demand has been insane! The Dubai Chocolate craze is clearly here to stay!”

But, did the Creams desserts live up to other Dubai chocolate items I’ve tried? There was only one way to find out – and that was by conducting a taste test. So here’s what I thought…

Dubai Choc Loaded Shake, £8.45

What is it?

The Dubai Choc Loaded Shake i described on the website as being pistachio gelato blended with milk, chocolate shards and vanilla soft serve in a glass lined with crispy chocolate shell.

It’s nestled on a base of pistachio kunaife crunch filling. It is topped with more chocolate shell, pistachio sauce and kunaife pastry and sounds seriously indulgent.

My verdict

When I was given the milkshake, I was a little disappointed. On the website, it looks green, which surely means more pistachio flavour, right?

However, the one I was given was brown, and it did taste pretty much like a chocolate milkshake with a tiny bit of pistachio cream at the bottom.

When you could taste the pistachio cream, it was so much better, but I feel like it wasn’t distributed well across the milkshake. I would’ve preferred it to be the green shade of the image.

The pieces of pastry were a delight too and really made the milkshake feel more luxe than your average one.

Overall, I thought it was a very tasty chocolatey milkshake, but I would’ve preferred more pistachio.

Dubai Choc Sundae, £8.45

What is it?

The website promises that it will have layers of chocolate chip and pistachio gelato, chocolate sauce, pistachio sauce, chocolate shards and vanilla soft serve.

It’s served on a base of pistachio kunaifa crunch filling for an extra dose of that Dubai-inspired flavour.

My verdict

I was pleased to learn you can properly taste the pistachio ice cream – and it didn’t get lost in the other flavours either.

However, considering it’s a Dubai chocolate dessert, I’d like to see less vanilla, more chocolate and even more pistachio.

My honest feedback for both of the products is to really hammer home that pistachio flavour. That’s why we’ve bought the items, after all.

But despite that tweak, I think both offerings are absolutely delicious.
