A man is seeking advice after sharing how he was pressured into wearing a fake mousache to work – and now he doesn’t know whether to keep up the act or slowly phase it out
A man’s entire life has turned into a ‘comedy show’ after being forced to wear a fake moustache to a job interview.
He explained how he glued a fake moustache onto his face as part of his Halloween costume – and has been struggling to get it off ever since.
It turns out his roommate tricked him into using “super heavy-duty glue”, meaning it was stuck onto him for some quite some time. He said on Reddit: “The next day I wasn’t able to get it off. I was majorly annoyed, but there wasn’t anything I could do.
“I had a job interview and had to show up with this fake moustache. I had rehearsed a stupid line of how I liked to make people laugh, and this is how I liked to test how healthy an office culture was. Well, the interviewer (my new boss) didn’t realise it was fake. He had a moustache in the same style as my fake one. The interview went well, and he ended it with some comment of how great my moustache looked.”
Some days later, he managed to get the moustache off but he decided to re-glue it in place for his first day, as he wanted his boss to recognise and remember him. He added: “Was probably stupid, but I decided to wear the fake moustache to my first day of work today as to not disappoint my new boss. He made another comment today of how much he liked my moustache. Now I feel like I have to keep wearing this thing…”
While most users couldn’t help but laugh at his situation, others compared his life to a comedy sketch. One user said: “Grow a real one under the fake one, then later on glue the fake moustache with some weaker glue on top of the real one and have it fall off in front of your boss.”
Another user added: “This is an incredible setup for a comedy bit, I’m just waiting to see how you stick the landing.” A third user said: “Silly. Just say you shaved it off if he asks.” One more user added: “Why stop at a moustache? What other fake hair and features can you add? Double down.”
