Ian Huntley moans he’s ‘being picked on’ as prison officers seize items from cell

Ian Huntley, who is serving a life term at HMP Frankland, Durham, for the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman has claimed he is “being picked on” behind bars

Child killer Ian Huntley has reportedly been “moaning that he was being picked on and treated unfairly” behind bars.

The disappearance of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in August 2002 saw more than 400 police officers descend on the sleepy Cambridgeshire town of Soham. Alongside volunteers, they worked around the clock in a bid to find the two 10-year-old missing bestmates.

The pair had vanished as they left a family barbecue to get some sweets from the leisure centre vending machine, but ended up being lured into the home of evil school caretaker Ian Huntley. He and his partner, Maxine Carr, spoke to the press about the schoolchildren and joined in with the desperate search.

Only it transpired that Huntley was hiding a disturbing secret, that he was their callous murderer.

On August 20, Huntley was charged with two counts of murder and sentenced to two terms of life imprisonment, with a minimum of 40 years behind bars. Huntley, who will not be considered for release until 2042 at the earliest. The murderer is at constant risk of attack from other prisoners and has had a string of health problems and suicide attempts behind bars.

Now 51, he is serving a life term at HMP Frankland, Durham, where sources say he has been wearing a No10 Manchester United-style shirt — an apparent sick reference to his ten-year-old victims Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

But now it has been claimed prison guards have confiscated the top, which has a white No 10 on the back in an apparent sick reference to his schoolgirl victims.

It is believed the shirt was seized during a search of his cell which also resulted in framed pictures of Huntley with ex Maxine Carr plus other items including DVDs being seized.

A source told The Sun: “They turned over Huntley’s cell and confiscated the shirt. He won’t be getting it back and has been warned about his vile behaviour. The raid was a proper one. They went through all his belongings.

“People had also complained about the Maxine Carr pictures being inappropriate. It was like he was revelling in what happened. Huntley was moaning that he was being picked on and treated unfairly.

“But neither the staff or other inmates had any sympathy and are pleased he can no longer taunt his victims and others by wearing the shirt. It is about time he was treated a bit more harshly in jail.”

The Prison Service said: “We cannot comment on individuals.”
