Iceland is slashing the price of one of its summer staples to just 1p this weekend as the UK is set to be hit by a mini heatwave. Brits are preparing themselves for a hot weekend as temperatures are set to reach as high as 26C in some parts of the country.

The Met Office has predicted a few days of sun from Friday, with temperatures expected to remain above 20C through the weekend. The hottest areas will be to the south of the UK with London set for temperatures in the mid-20s. Temperatures will be a little cooler in areas of Scotland, Wales and Cornwall.

To help Brits cool down, Iceland will be cutting the prices of ice lollies across its stores by 99% – meaning they will be priced at a mere 1p. The price cuts will be seen in stores for one day only, Sunday, June 1, and Iceland says the reason for the price cut is to celebrate the start of summer.
