‘I’m a beauty writer and Boots’ £35 edit is the ultimate introduction to Korean skincare’

Boots shoppers can get more than £50 worth of free skincare products when they spend £35 this weekend. It comes as the health and beauty retailer has launched a brand-new beauty box starring a selection of products from the Korean skincare category.

Any skincare enthusiast will be aware that Korean beauty has been quietly conquering the globe in recent years – even more so in the past few months, with brands popping up in the UK market from all directions. While the sheer volume of new products may be daunting for beauty lovers unsure where to begin, this Boots K-Beauty Skincare edit is the ultimate introduction.

Korean skincare has been gaining traction due to its emphasis on hydration (think Laneige water bank), barrier support (hello Dr Jart) and glass skin (looking at you, Glow Recipe). They often feature unique and transformative textures, making them enjoyable and fun to experiment with, whilst still being effective on skin.

Boots actually released a Korean beauty skincare box earlier this year and it sold out within days, so we’re certainly not shocked to see the health and beauty retailer unveil a 2.0 version. Priced at £35, it offers a value of nearly £90, saving shoppers roughly £54 on the RRP.

Inside, shoppers can discover eight products, seven of which are full sized ranging from soothing masks to hydrating creams and brightening serums. If you’ve ever wondered why K-beauty is booming the way that it is, this box will give beauty buffs a taste of what makes it so addictive.

K-Beauty Skincare Edit

Discover the magic of Korean skincare with the latest K Beauty Skincare Edit – your curated selection of cult-favourite and breakthrough products straight from South Korea.

This year, LookFantastic and Beauty Bay have both launched Korean Skincare edits, but their stocks sold out quickly, proving the high demand for Korean Skincare. In other beauty news, Space NK has introduced The Hero Skincare Edit for £80, which is worth over £225 and features brands like Medik8, Paula’s Choice and Drunk Elephant, reports Wales Online.

LookFantastic currently offers a limited edition box called the Beauty Icons Edit, valued at £245 but available for just £52. This collection includes top-rated essentials loved by the LF community, featuring brands such as Liz Earle, Elemis and Sol de Janeiro.

Elsewhere, The OK! Beauty Box contains 11 items, with 10 being full-sized – including a beloved Medik8 serum. The total worth reaches over £210, yet the collection typically retails for £59.99.

Returning to K-beauty, the Boots box restocks my skincare cupboard on a budget, with each item in the edit averaging at £4.38. My favourite pick from the edit is the Tocobo Calamine Cleansing Oil, which would usually cost £18 on its own.

I fell in love with this product from the first use. I’m already a fan of cleansing oils and this one stands out with its silky texture that effortlessly melts away makeup and SPF, transforming into a milky texture when water is added. It doesn’t have a heavy fragrance and leaves skin soft, not stripped, earning it a regular spot in my skincare routine.

I was particularly fond of the Purito Mighty Bamboo Cream, too. I’ve been using their centella unscented serum recently to tackle some redness, so this moisturiser is a fantastic addition to my collection. It has a really light texture so it absorbs quickly but is still deeply nourishing thanks to panthenol and bamboo extract, making it perfect for day or night use.

For those who are fans of the ‘morning shed’ trend, the Biodance Hydro Cera-Nol Real Deep Mask is essential. It’s a sheet mask, but not as you know them, applying white with a rubbery texture, becoming translucent as it’s left on the skin overnight.

I’m also keen to try the Anua Niacinamide 10% + TXA Serum which is said to address uneven tone and dullness, the Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 30 (a handy travel-size sunscreen perfect for popping in a handbag) and the VT Cosmetics Reedle Shot 100 2-Step Mask.

The only product in the edit that didn’t win me over was the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser. It’s a soft, low-pH foaming cleanser made with deep sea water, but I personally favour oils and balms over foams. I already own this and don’t use it often, so this one’s going into my Christmas gifting pile. That said, I know many people love it for its gentle, creamy lather.

Despite not being a fan of the cleanser, the value for money is still undeniable and it means I’ve saved a bit of dosh on a festive stocking filler for a family member or mate. If you’re curious about Korean skincare or simply want to top up your stash, this box is absolutely worth snapping up.
