I’m A Celebrity star Lord Charles Brocket has been charged with rape and sexual assault. The 73 year old peer is accused of raping and sexually assaulting a woman between 5 May and 10 August.
Brocket, who finished fourth on the 2004 series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration. He was not asked to enter any pleas and was granted bail ahead of a hearing at Isleworth Crown Court on 26 August.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told The Mirror: “Charles Brocket, 73, (12.2.52), from Fulham, appears at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 30 August charged with two counts of rape and sexual assault by penetration.
“Brocket was arrested on Friday, 29 August on suspicion of rape and charged on Saturday, 30 August. The rape charges relate to an incident involving a woman that took place in the early hours of Saturday, 10 August in Fulham. The matter was reported to police the same day.
“The sexual assault by penetration charge relates to an incident on Monday, 5 May in Warbleton, East Sussex. The victim is being supported by specialist officers.”
Brocket, from Fulham, west London, confirmed his name, date of birth and address during the brief hearing, where prosecutor Aarya Mishra outlined the allegations.
Brocket was not asked to enter pleas to any of the charges, which can only be tried at the crown court, but the court heard he denies the allegations. District judge Louisa Cieciora granted him bail with conditions. She stated that Brocket, who was represented by Henry Milner, must attend Isleworth Crown Court for the next hearing on 26 September and he is banned from entering within the M25 area due to a GPS tag-monitored exclusion.
Lord Charles Brocket was known for his eccentric antics on the third series of I’m a Celebrity, but didn’t stay in the spotlight for too long.
