Clare Andrews shared the ways she thinks AI and smart technology will integrate itself into our kitchens in the not too distant future – and she made one remark about the evolution

With AI having a huge impact on our workplaces, social media feeds, and more, many are wondering when it will start to integrate itself into our homes, more specifically kitchens – and how far it will go.

Clare Andrews, an air fryer expert and cookbook author, says that “kitchens are definitely becoming more connected,” saying it ‘blows her mind’ when she thinks about what the future could look like.

“With the integration of smart technology in our homes, I think the only way is up! And appliances will continue to grow and evolve, and just get smarter. Ovens, fridge freezers and even microwaves are already entering the market now with smart technology and I’m sure they won’t stop there,” she gushed.

Clare continued: “I think soon we will be able to control all our home devices via a smartphone app. Imagine an airfryer you could control with an app, simply pop the food in, head off out and voila, the hard work is done for you!”

She shared: “I think appliances will become ever more energy-efficient and use eco-friendly materials. We should hope to see more kitchen appliances that focus on reducing energy consumption, helping us to recycle and minimising waste.

“It would be great if we could all look at reducing the carbon footprint of cooking and maybe look for ways to be more eco-friendly in everyday activities. I would hope in the not-so-distant future we can look forward to, most appliances which are both green and high-performance and that will become more common.

“Maybe people will look to buy a refurbished machine rather than brand new. It’s the little things that will certainly make the difference.”

She also said that “food waste is so common” so it would be good to get AI to help us with this by “using our freezers more efficiently and understanding the labels on our foods we buy”.

Clare continued: “We could also use AI to help use to reduce food waste, maybe by simply using sealers and food dehydrators that help preserve food for longer periods of time. Alternatively, we could use an app that can recommend recipes to use up soon-to-expire items.

“Something along the lines of reading the ingredients in your fridge and suggesting a recipe to cook in your air fryer, which automatically gives you cooking times and temperatures. I’m hoping these improvements will be able to ease the pressure off and hopefully helping us to multitask too!

“Just by making these small changes in the future could help home cooks reduce their waste and make their home kitchens more sustainable and helping to reduce food waste too, all while still being able to enjoy a healthy nutritious meal and that helps to save you money and time.

“While I think that air fryers will become bigger, more efficient and higher tech, I don’t think that AI will start writing recipes and cookbooks any time soon!”

Clare Andrews’ new book ‘The Ultimate Air Fryer Cookbook: One Basket Meals’ is available from 7th November, pre-order your copy on Amazon now.
