A 50-year-old woman has opened up about her toyboy lover and says she would never go back to dating someone her age – despite trolls harassing her online
A self-confessed cougar said all woman should go for younger men – and at 50, couldn’t be happier with her 27-year-old toyboy.
The pair have been loved up for four years, and said she can’t recommend age gap relationships enough. But while Rachel constantly gets mistaken for being her boyfriend Alex’s mum, it “doesn’t define” their relationship.
Rachel and Alex met a dating site when Alex upped his age limit in the hopes of meeting a more mature woman and matched with Rachel, someone he now calls his “soul mate” despite being just three years younger than him.
Even though the couple face harsh comments from trolls, the pair have managed to stick together through the challenges and share their relationship online.
The couple, based in the US, have shared details about their unconventional romance under the name @alex.michael13 in a video to TikTok, which has now garnered attention online. Rachel said some people just don’t understand her romance and will share their judgement of the pair.
“We were meant to do life together, we were meant to meet, we were meant to love each other,” Rachel said as she joked that she’s now a ‘cougar’. She said she was just a “mum minding my own business” when her “much younger” boyfriend came into her life.
But even though they are madly in love, they said their relationship is just like any other and “requires time and effort.” Alex has even told all of his TikTok followers to follow in his footsteps and consider pursuing a relationship with an older woman.
The pair also shared an insight into their relationship during an episode of Love Don’t Judge on YouTube and Rachel revealed the difficulty she had telling her sons about her relationship. She said it’s still a “work in progress” and hopes he and Alex can “bond better” soon.
It’s not all plain sailing, as the couple have to deal with a fair amount of criticism, with many people mistaking Rachel as Alex’s son. One person commented: “He looks more like her than her own son,” while another added: “She’s pretty but she clearly is trying to act and dress like she’s still a teenager. It reeks of desperation.”
