A personal stylist has shared a list of easy ways to “elevate” your wardrobe – and even make your outfits “look more expensive.” Fashion fans will know that it can often be costly to keep up with all the latest trends, with things ever changing and arriving on shelves.
However, it turns out there are ways of making sure your wardrobe is on-trend and fashionable without breaking the bank – or buying new clothes all the time. Personal stylist and founder of Effortless Style, Katie Rushton, often shares advice and tips on Instagram as @effortlesstyle.
In a recent post, Katie shared her top three tips to “make any outfit look more expensive.” The clip had overlaying text, which read: “Three items that make any outfit look expensive (tips from a personal stylist).”
The post was captioned: “You don’t need a designer wardrobe to look polished — just a few elevated style moves. Here are three items that can make any spring outfit look more expensive (straight from a personal stylist’s toolkit).”
Katie said the first item to add to your wardrobe is “a sleek belt.” She added: “Cinch your waist over a dress, blazer, or lightweight knit. It instantly adds shape and sophistication.”
The second product is a pair of pointed toe shoes. She said: “Whether it’s a slingback, flat, or heel, this silhouette elongates your legs and elevates everything.”
Finally, Katie recommends adding a “structured layer” to your outfit to give it a more elevated look. She said: “Think a crisp blazer, a cropped trench, or a tailored vest. Clean lines = chic every time.”

In another recent post, Katie discussed how following trends can lead to “endless options” which actually make it harder to decide on what to wear and when. She said: “You may not want to hear this, but I have to tell you… Sometimes, less is more—especially when it comes to your wardrobe.”
She added: “It’s easy to get caught up in the trend of having endless options, but the truth is, a streamlined wardrobe of carefully selected pieces can make life so much easier.”
Instead, Katie recommends opting for “quality over quantity.” She said: “By focusing on quality over quantity and choosing timeless, versatile pieces, you can create more outfit combinations with fewer items. Let go of things that don’t serve you and embrace a minimalist wardrobe that fits your lifestyle.”
