If you’re taking carry-on luggage on the plane, the likelihood is you have some seriously important items in there – and you don’t want anyone to get their hands on them
If you’re jetting off with just carry-on luggage, chances are it’s packed with your most precious items and getting one of them stolen would be devastating.
From vital meds to your favourite outfits, pricey gadgets and more, the last thing you need is some light-fingered passenger swiping your stuff when your back’s turned.
But TikTok user and security guru @cathypedrayes has hopped onto the platform to spill the beans on how to keep your belongings secure while on the move.
She suggests “putting your zippers towards the back” of your suitcase or bag, making it trickier for other travellers to fiddle with them and sneak a peek inside your bag.
Her advice? “It’s not as accessible” in that position.
Another tip is to “put the luggage in the bin across the aisle from your seat so you can keep your eye on it”. This is rather than it being above your head and passengers in front and behind being able to access your bag without you realising it.
If you have “valuables” in your bag as well, she recommends you keep them “at the bottom”. She also recommended it’s “even better” if you can keep your valuables on your person.
For example, if you have an expensive watch, keep it on, rather than putting it in your bag so that nobody has an opportunity to nab it.
In the comments, one person mentioned they’ve “never had issues knock on wood,” but they “like the videos” she posts. Another chimed in saying they “love an airport safety tip”.
One viewer confessed they’ve “learned so much” from her content. Others simply expressed their gratitude, saying “thank you” for the wisdom she shares in her clips.
There was even a comment requesting she tackle “preventing theft at theme parks” next time.
