Amy, who is mum to seven children, has shared her budget-friendly parenting hacks on TikTok, revealing how she keeps her children entertained without spending a penny
A single mum of seven has revealed how she manages to keep her children busy during the school summer holidays without spending a penny – thanks to a £5 buy from B&M.
Amy, whose children range in age from one to 16, shared her budget-friendly parenting hacks on TikTok, showing how she navigates no-spend days by getting creative and keeping her little ones active and engaged.
She explained that her day started with chaos as the younger kids were “fighting like mad”, so by 8:30am, she had them up and out the door for a walk, while the teenagers stayed in bed. The morning stroll lasted around an hour and a half. It comes after a woman claimed evil ‘scammers tried to trick me out of £1,600 but four words gave the game away’.

Once back home, the younger children entertained themselves with kinetic sand for about 30 minutes before lunch. After eating, Amy took the little ones out again, this time equipped with their favourite summer toy: water blaster backpacks from B&M.
The £5 backpacks, shaped like pink mermaids, come with attached water guns, allowing kids to have fun water fights on the go. Though Amy noted one of her younger daughters was too small to wear the backpack, she happily joined in using a simple spray bottle.
The family walk included a stop at the park and a mini-adventure to forage for blackberries. They hit the jackpot with a bush full of ripe berries, which they took home, washed, and turned into a delicious homemade fruit crumble.
Amy’s kids were entertained the entire day — and best of all, she didn’t spend a single penny.
Her video, posted under the handle @singlewithseven, has racked up over 24,000 views, with many TikTok users praising her efforts.
One person commented: “Aw I love this! A no-spend day is so tough — you’ve done a great job keeping them occupied!”
Another wrote: “What a lovely morning. We’ve been collecting plums and cherries this week.”
A third added: “Wow, well done you — gorgeous day. There’s me thinking one’s hard!”
And a fourth said: “They had fun, that’s all that matters.”
