‘I’m a vet and there’s a certain dog breed that’s most likely to bite’

Dogs are among the most popular choice of pet in the world. A vet has shared the breed of dog he believes is most likely to bite him or other vets when they visit the clinic

A vet has shared the dog breed “most likely to bite” when they pay a visit to his clinic – and people aren’t surprised. Countless people all over the world are dog owners, with the animal often topping the list for the most popular choice of pet in many countries.

Still, choosing to get a dog is a massive decision which brings about a major lifestyle shift. Though dogs bring a lot of positives to their owners’ lives thanks to their affectionate and loyal natures, they’re still a big commitment that comes with lots of responsibility. It’s important to weigh up all factors before getting a dog, with many people turning to social media on the hunt for tips and guidance surrounding pet ownership. Thankfully, there’s an array of professionals keen to share their expert advice and experiences with the masses online.

Dr Amir Anwary is a popular veterinarian who’s pulled in hundreds of thousands of likes on TikTok thanks to his regular video uploads where he shares his insight and guidance.

Alongside informative videos, he often posts light-hearted clips of himself dancing while sharing humorous tales from his experiences with animals and their owners.

In a recent clip, the vet shared what he believes to be the dog most likely to try and bite him or other vets.

The video sees Dr Anwary moving in time to a song with text overlaid which reads: “Which dog breed will most likely bite the veterinarian”.

The word “chihuahua” then appeared on screen above the vet. Chihuahuas are a toy breed of dog known for their assertive, lively and devoted natures.

They’re also known to be very spirited and “high energy”, with PetMD stating “they can be feisty and bark at other people and dogs.”

It adds: “When they feel nervous, they will bark – and sometimes forget how truly tiny they are. It’s vital for Chihuahua parents to monitor their dog closely whenever they’re around other animals and unfamiliar people”.

In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were keen to share their thoughts – with many chihuahua owners agreeing with the vet’s assessment.

One person said: “As a chihuahua parent….. nothing surprising here lol”.

Another added: “It’s always the Chihuahua,” while a third agreed: “Owning a rescue chihuahua with anxiety – I knew the answer before it was up.”

Someone else commented: “Fr [for real] they are very tiny but [have] the anger issues of a villain”.

While another person shared: “My pitbull is terrified of my chihuahua”.

However, someone else said: “I’m looking after my friend’s chihuahua and he’s the sweetest most loving little dog I’ve ever met, he’d never bite anyone”.

And another agreed: “Can we not normalise angry dogs. Yes, there’s a lot of chihuahua who are biters or snappy. But most of them are either mistreated or not socialized properly.”

Remember, dogs are a serious commitment. It’s also worth bearing in mind that training is essential, and not all dogs are suitable for first time owners.

If you’re looking to welcome a dog into your home, consider the benefits of adopting a puppy or dog from a charity or local shelter instead of shopping from a breeder.
