A video shows her pouring detergent and liquid soap into a bucket, before she later adds Lysol which appears to be more successful in removing dirt
An expert in cleaning claims everyone is mopping their floors incorrectly – and has demonstrated how to do it to achieve the best results. The TikTok user @streamaniak concedes that she was not correct in her assumption of how to mop a floor. A video shows her pouring detergent and liquid soap into a bucket. She said: “I thought I was mopping my floors all this time – I was WRONG.” The cleaner is then seen adding some Lysol multi-purpose cleaner into a bucket and adds some hot water. The video then cuts to three shots of her emptying her bucket after using the cleaning product
The user, @streamaniak, is seen mopping her floors and emptying the bucket of dirty water down the toilet on three separate occasions which gathers a huge amount of dirt from the floors. she hadn’t been able to gather in her previous method.
Her TikTok post is headed: “Mopping becomes easy when you know this product exists.” But she was also criticised for removing the covering of the floor. One said of the dirty water in the bucket: “It’s only that dark because she’ s removing the varnish on the wood.” Another response said: “You are not mopping you are decolouring”. But she received just as much flak for pouring the contents of the dirty bucket into the bath. One poster said: “Pour that water down the toilet not the tub,” And another poster said “Why are you pouring the water down the tub? You’ve now got to clean the bathtub.”
Many people, meanwhile, criticised her cleaning style, with several posts claming the author should be mopping with the grain of the wooden floor rather than across it. By far the most criticism was reserved for how she disposed of the waste water after the floor had been mopped. Other commenters had a problem with the TikToker pouring the dirty floor water into their bath, rather than down the toilet – especially as there was a loofah sponge for washing right next to the plug hole.
“Please use the toilet to dump dirty water,” a comment from Michelle begged. While Breged said: “I pour mine outside but hey everyone diff I guess”. Another user said: “I dump my dirty water down the toilet . I don’t want to clean my tub,” while a fourth chimed in: “You put that dirty water in the bath, not in the toilet? Why?” Mixing some cleaning chemicals can also be dangerous. The Mirror reported previously reported Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) had issued a warning after two cleaning chemicals were mixed resulting in dangerous gas being expelled.
