A bride to be has told how she is getting married to a prisoner serving life behind bars – but she isn’t sure whether she’ll be able to wear her wedding dress on the big day for one reason
A woman proudly revealed she is marrying a man serving a life service in prison – but she admitted she’s not sure if she’ll be able to wear her wedding dress behind bars.
Bronwyn, from the Canadian city of Toronto, told the Love Don’t Judge YouTube channel that she is tying the knot with a man she first met in 2003.
But there could be a big hitch because she’s not sure whether she’s able to wear her wedding dress in prison because it shows off her shoulder.
She said: “I’m marrying a man serving life. I still don’t know if I’ll be able to wear my wedding dress in prison as I don’t know if there’s no shoulders allowed.
“I’m having my honeymoon behind bars. Some comments I get are pretty hateful. People call me embarrassing and to seek help. They say I have mental issues.”
Bronwyn said there’s no set date for her fiancée Justin’s release.
She says she has spent around $6,000/$7,000 on their wedding. The pair met through mutual friends back in 2003.
Bronwyn says she was asked to accompany a friend to the prison when she went to visit ‘one of her boyfriends back in the day’.
The bride to be said that while she was reticent at first, she eventually agreed to go to the heaven.
After months of Justin pursuing her, Bronwyn finally agreed to dating the criminal – and says she fell in love with him ‘instantly’.
Bronwyn, who is a mental health worker, online counsellor and real estate agent, added: “The worst thing about it is we’re not free. We’re in a jail. It’s just a dark and gloomy place to have a celebration.
“I met Justin through a mutual friend in 2003. I was asked by my best friend to accompany her to visit one of her boyfriends back in the day in jail.
“And I said: ‘I don’t want to have anything to do with that.’ She did some convincing, I agreed, I went there and the rest was history.
“I didn’t have any interest in dating someone who had been charged with a criminal offence, I was just 17.
“He kept calling, and calling and calling and then one day I gave in.
“It took about six months for him to win my heart, and I instantly fell in love him. We didn’t see each other much and eventually lost contact. Years later I thought: ‘I wonder what Justin’s doing?’ This relationship I’m in kind of sucks.’
“We got engaged two weeks after reconnecting. We have a wedding registry, we started receiving gifts.”
The YouTube channel Love Don’t Judge meets couples who get judged every day simply for falling in love.
