A man has gone viral after he revealed the one baby name he’s desperate to give a child he may have in the future – but people say it’ll set the kid up to be bullied

Not every bit of pop culture makes for good baby name inspiration.

Choosing a baby name can be a daunting task, with an array of options ranging from timeless classics to unique monikers that set individuals apart. Ultimately, the choice is personal to every parent, and there’s no right or wrong answer. However, one man has been advised to reconsider his preferred baby names amid concerns they could potentially lead to bullying in school and beyond.

Dec, who isn’t currently expecting, shared a viral video expressing his fear of marriage due to potential disagreements over naming future children after video game characters. In his TikTok video, Dec specifically discussed potential names derived from the widely-loved Pokemon franchise.

He expressed a fondness for the name Cresselia for a girl, which is the name of a psychic-type legendary Pokemon introduced in the fourth generation. He also suggested Togepi as an adorable name for a baby, and proposed an alternative spelling for the already popular name Evie, to match the first-generation normal-type Pokemon – Eevee.

Dec’s got his heart set on a Pokemon-inspired name for his future son, and he’s eyeing the moniker Lucario with such fondness that he’s even joked about wanting the name for himself. He’s already reached out to his mate Mitch to strike a deal, as they both share a passion for the name.

The man shared: “I’ve already texted Mitch about this to make a pact, but now he and I have a bit of a problem. We both want a son called Lucario. I want to be called Lucario, let alone my son. There’s actually so many [good names], I think we need a new generational thing going on.”

Wrapping up his clip, Dec also said Altaria would make a gorgeous Pokemon-themed name for a baby girl and mentioned Shaymin as a solid, “gender-neutral name”.

However, viewers of the video weren’t all on board with his naming strategy. While some of Dec’s suggestions were clearly in jest, commenters warned that such names could saddle his kids with a lifetime of teasing.

On the flip side, some fans pitched in with their own Pokemon-themed baby name ideas, throwing Aron, Amaura, Lunala, Kirila, and Zacian into the mix. And then there were those who couldn’t resist a bit of fun, like one commenter who cheekily claimed they’d name their child Shuckle.
