Rachel Reid and her husband of almost 30 years Darren decided to put the property up for sale and it has gone on to be listed online for an impressive £3 million
A mum-of-three has decided to cash in and sell the house she won in an Omaze prize draw – turning her into a multi-millionaire.
Rachael Reid, 54, scooped the stunning six-bed bungalow near Farnham, Surrey in July. She and her family then spent a few months enjoying the property, which boasts 1.4 acres, a 40ft heated indoor pool and a gym.
But Rachael and her husband of almost 30 years, Darren, 56, have now decided to put the home up for sale. It has been listed online for just under £3million – which will be a significant return on the £10 she spent entering the Omaze competition.
Rachael, a childcare worker from Inverness, said: “I still can’t believe it really happened to us – winning a multi-million-pound house in Surrey has changed our lives forever. We’ve really enjoyed spending time at the house – it’s been magical and the whole family has loved it. All the locals have been lovely and welcoming – it’s a fantastic area.
“The money I also got as part of my big win means if we wanted to, we could stay here for years and never have to worry about any costs – but we love where we live now, so we’ve decided to sell up and cash in – so we can buy an amazing house a bit closer to all our family and friends in Scotland.
“The money from the sale will change everything for the entire family – it’s just incredible – we’re all so excited for the future – we might even build our very own Omazing house!
“Entering Omaze was the best decision I ever made – I wish anyone who enters the best of luck, if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone!”
The renovated property, located in a sought-after village, comes with a detached pool house complete with a shower, gym, sauna and changing room to offer a spa-like experience. The house itself is approached through solid wood electric gates that open onto a large gravel driveway with double carport.
It has been refurbished to a high standard, incorporating modern architectural design with luxurious styling to provide elegant living spaces.
There is also a large entrance hallway which leads into a drawing room with vaulted ceiling that overlooks the private rear garden – and features a unique Purbeck stone chimney fireplace mirrored externally.
The kitchen and dining area boasts oak flooring throughout, and the kitchen has an island with breakfast bar, Shaker oak eye and base level units that comprise a wide range of fitted Siemens appliances, Liebherr full height induction hob, and a boiling filtered water tap.
The house also offers a spacious living room and a separate study. The property is nestled in a secluded setting, covering 1.4 acres, and has an outdoor kitchen with concrete worktops, built-in cupboards and a gas BBQ – as well as an outdoor open fireplace and landscaped gardens and grounds, including a large, wooded area.
The property is listed on Rightmove, via Savills, for £2,950,000. An Omaze spokesperson said: “All Omaze winners are free to decide if they live in their new house, rent it out for a supplementary income or sell it whenever they wish, to become a cash multi-millionaire – they can put it on the market the day they get the keys – the choice is entirely theirs.
“Omaze Grand Prize winners also receive £250,000 in cash to maintain their new property and help them settle in. Estimated running costs for each house are available for entrants to view on the Omaze website. If they decide to keep the house, they could afford to comfortably stay for many years using just the £250,000 settling in money.
“All Omaze properties come with no mortgage and no stamp duty or legal fees to pay. The properties also come with all the furniture featured in the adverts.
“Omaze styles each property with well over a hundred thousand pounds worth of furnishings and essentials, so they are all ready for a winner to enjoy as soon as they get the keys.
“As well as the £250,000 they receive, it’s worth bearing in mind that if a winner was already paying rent or a mortgage for their previous property, the money saved could also go towards the running costs of their new home.
“Alternatively, if they do already own a property, they could choose to keep it and rent it out as a supplementary income. Should winners wish to rent out their new property, they can achieve long-term rental values of thousands of pounds a month.
“Whatever their circumstances, all Omaze winners have several fantastic life changing options available to them. Omaze is immensely proud to have created 32 millionaires whilst also raising more than £67million for good causes in the UK since it launched here.”
