Minerva García, a Spanish woman living in London, admitted she wanted to ‘slap’ an English guy after they went on a date
A Spanish woman living in London has opened up about dating in the UK capital. However, it didn’t go to plan as she might have expected and shared her story online.
Minerva García, who goes under the username @minisgar24 on TikTok, explained what happened during a date with an English man. She said: “I’m not ashamed and I don’t mind telling it.
“I don’t know how I didn’t leave at that moment… I felt like shutting him up with a slap.”
Minerva, who is originally from Almeria and is working as a teacher in the UK was told by her date that he wouldn’t talk to her using “slang” because she “won’t understand it.”

Initially, she thought: “Are you stupid, mate?”, however, Minerva admitted that “obviously maybe I can’t catch everything because I’m not a dictionary yet” but added angrily “but from there to not understanding what you say, I think there’s a stretch. What an idiot!”
The clip has racked up more than 4,000 views with users taking to the comments to share their views.
One person wrote:”That’s called English humour darling”, to which Minerva replied: “It wasn’t humour. I wish it had been.”
Another remarked: “And did he speak Spanish? Surely not, what a bore” and Minerva replied: “Of course not. Only English.”
Finally, a third commented: “Hahaha when slang is the first thing you learn in a language.”
It comes as Minerva also revealed the biggest culture shocks since she moved to the UK. She explained that the British weather was a huge shock after moving from Almreria.
Posting on TikTok, she said: “The things you realise when you live in London: You appreciate the sun more when you don’t have it every day.” However this wasn’t the only thing.
She added: “The bin lorry passes twice a week. How dirty are these people?”
Some of the other shocks Minerva included was buying food with the fruit and veg often being charged per unit rather than by weight. She also described the items as well as being “tasteless” and like “frozen food” compared with what she was used to back home.
Finally another problem she found was the price of alcohol and going out in the UK.
She said: “You go out for a beer and you end up paying for a house. Incredible! Beer is so expensive.”
