Incredible city with year-round sun is Europe’s ‘most walkable’

By staff7 October 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

If you’re planning a trip to Europe and want to avoid the hassle of car hire, one UK city has been named the most walkable in Europe, and it’s a great destination for a holiday in the autumn

Car rental prices have soared, but British travellers keen to avoid the hefty fees should consider a city break where walking is all that’s required. The language learning platform Preply has analysed data to identify Europe’s most pedestrian-friendly cities, highlighting destinations where holidaymakers can skip car hire altogether.

They’ve discovered that incredible urban requiring minimal walking between key attractions. While a scenic location, Oxford, claimed the domestic title, a Spanish jewel secured the crown for Europe’s most pedestrian-friendly destination.

Seville, the southern Spanish treasure, topped the walkability rankings, featuring just a 20-minute walk between essential sights, reports the Mirror.

Beyond being the birthplace of tapas, Seville offers a wealth of cultural riches and serves as the heart of Spain’s most spectacular festivities.

Tripadvisor’s top-rated Seville attraction, Plaza de Espana, captivates tourists with its 1928 splendour and offers peaceful canal boat trips.

One Tripadvisor reviewer raved: “Stunningly beautiful! My favourite part of Seville.”

Another declared said: “Wow, wow, wow! Stunning architecture and scrupulously well kept. Not to be missed.”

While a third said: “This was an incredible place for us to visit. This is a must-see location for anyone visiting Seville.”

Beyond the plaza, the Real Alcazar de Sevilla and the city’s Cathedral are unmissable, while Parque de Maria Luisa offers a perfect slice of serenity.

Autumn proves the ideal time to explore Seville, as summer temperatures can soar to a blistering 40 degrees.

  • Venice, Italy
  • Porto, Portugal
  • Florence, Italy
  • Athens, Greece
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Cologne, Germany
