A group of influencers hit back at those who criticise them for not having a ‘real job’ by posting a funny Instagram reel pretending to cry while holding Louis Vuitton shopping bags
A group of influencers poked fun at people who told them to get a ‘real job’.
Ela Reeves, Amy Beckett, Rebecca Sonuga, Connie Pearson, Cassie Rowan and Leah Lockett shared an Instagram reel titled ‘When everyone keeps telling you to get a real job but your fake job’s funding your Louis Vuitton addiction’.
In the reel, the influencers were seen wearing matching pink and white striped Victoria’s Secret pyjamas while pretending to cry with Louis Vuitton shopping bags or boxes on their laps.
They are all travel influencers who now earn money from travelling as they are involved in Jet Set Lifestyle Group, an online luxury travel brand servicing those seeking the luxury travel lifestyle. Social media influencers are digital creators who establish themselves as experts in a particular field and share their knowledge and lifestyle with their large audience on social media channels.
The influencers’ joint Instagram reel has had 290,000 views and hundreds of comments. One person who found it hilarious said: “Pahahahaha not the receipts for tissues!” Another added: “Haha I love this! One day I will join you all.”
A third user commented: “Ladies! You are insane! This is so brilliant!”. While a fourth person claimed: “This is the pep talk we need every morning.”
While most of the reactions were positive, not everyone saw the funny side, as one person branded the reel “unbearable”. Ela replied to this comment: “Bearable enough to watch and comment,” while Cassie responded: “Pass me another receipt…I’m going to cry again!”.
Leah, Ela, Amy, Rebecca, Connie and Cassie have 3,980 to 37,000 followers on Instagram where they all display how their lives are different to those working a more ordinary job with a regular lifestyle.
Amy recently posted a reel of the fancy meal, snacks and drinks she had on a business class flight. She wrote: “My friends are busy having babies whilst I’m busy trying to figure out which airline offers the best business class food and drinks” for the title of her reel.
Meanwhile, Cassie posted an Instagram reel having fun on a yacht with the text, “Everybody deserves love, but I deserve to be on a yacht in the middle of Greece with the girls.”
According to influencer marketing brand Kolsquare, there were 98,000 influencers in the UK with 5,000 or more followers on Instagram from data from March 2024.
Influencers’ incomes vary depending on factors, including how many followers they have and on what social media platforms. Data website Demandsage says that on average influencers can make $195 to $1900 per post (£159 to £1,539).
