Insanely beautiful European city named cheapest place to fly to with £2.50 pints

By staff21 May 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

This city in Germany has been named as the number one spot to visit in 2025, and their cheap flights aren’t the only thing that makes it worth the visit for hopeful travellers

With the summer holidays around the corner, many of us are looking forward to spending a couple of days abroad. But if you’re looking to save some money whilst still making the most of your ‘Eurosummer’, Bremen in Germany is the perfect place.

According to Skyscanner, Germany has topped the charts as 2025’s cheapest destination to fly to, with an average cost of a flight to Bremen, the capital city, costing £60.

Found in the northwest side of the country, Bremen is a stunning place with a lot of rich history and gorgeous cultural attractions. The city’s old town with 15th and 16th century buildings looks like something that came out straight out of a fairytale, making it a must-visit place.

Bremen is Germany’s greenest city, with 70% more green space per inhabitant than Berlin. There are many green spaces, natural reserves and parks, with the most famous ones being Burgerpark, Blockland, Rhododendronpark, and Wallanlagen Park.

As previously mentioned by The Mirror, one of the city’s major downsides is its public transport. Even though it’s a major station in Bremen, it has been ranked as the continent’s worst railway terminal, due to the many deals and scant amenities for commuters.

Things to do in Bremen, Germany

Easy to explore on foot, Bremen has a lot of things to offer for both locals and visitors. Their main attractions include the famous City Hall and Roland (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the Market Square (one of the oldest public plazas in the city), Bottcherstrabe, Schnoor Quarter and Ratskeller.

When visiting the Bremen Town Musicians, you will encounter long queues. This is because people are waiting to touch a shiny donkey’s legs, as it’s meant to bring them good luck.

If you’re looking to tan and cool off from the hot weather in the water, there are a couple of beaches around Bremen. Although they’re not the definition of paradise, the city has a sandy beach along the Weser River, known as the Weser Beach at Café Sand.

Bremen is also the origin of one of the world ’s most famous beers. According to Meininger Hotels, approximately 3,000 bottles of Beck’s beer are opened every minute all over the world. The beer was also founded in Bremen, with the founders taking inspiration from Bremen’s Coat of Arms.

Not only are the flights cheap, but their pints cost half of what they cost back home. As revealed by pintprice.com, a beer in Bremen only costs 2.99€, which equates to £2.50.

Germany’s gastronomy is also quite known for its hearty cuisine with meat dishes, potatoes and greens. Their speciality is called Kohl und Pinkel, which is green cabbage with Kasseler (smoked pork), Bauchspeck (belly pork) and Pinkel (sausage). Other popular and delicious meals include Labskaus (made with potatoes and herring) and Knipp (a type of sausage made from meat, oatmeal and other ingredients).

Visitors can’t leave the city without trying the famous dessert called Bremen Kaffebrot, which is enjoyed with a coffee. The yummy treat is made from toasted sliced white bread, and it’s coated with butter, sugar and cinnamon.

Convinced enough? If you’re looking for a holiday with a lot of history, scenery, good food and most importantly, good beer, look no further than Bremen. Plus, £60 for a return flight, it’s a steal and less than what you would’ve spent on a day out in Central London.
