Singer Lola Young has taken a step back from performing after collapsing on stage during a recent performance in New York, with the 24-year-old sharing an emotional statement
Lola Young announced earlier today that she has cancelled her upcoming appearances and will be “going away for a while” after she collapsed on stage during a gig in New York.
The singer-songwriter, 24, shared in an Instagram post to update fans, saying: “I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future.
“Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.
“Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund. I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger. Love you all, Lola x.”

It comes after she fell to the floor while performing at All Things Go music festival in Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday. The scary incident let to medics rushing to treat her. She was singing her hit Conceited at the time.
Before she collapsed she had told fans: “I wanted to say I had a couple of tricky days. Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue.”
It’s not the first time that the star has opened up about her health – with the young singer and her team previously speaking about her struggles.
After cancelling Lola’s performance at Newark’s Prudential Center, her manager Nick Shymansky said on social media: “There are [occasionally] days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe.
“She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”
She had previously cancelled shows and spoken about being diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder at the age of 17. According to mental health charity Mind, people with the disorder can experience psychosis as well as mood symptoms.
Lola also suffers from ADHD and mental health struggles. In an Instagram post in 2022, she said: “I cant find the words to describe how much this diagnosis has affected my entire life, and my outlook on the world around me.
“I have struggled immensely learning to accept this part of myself, and I am still learning. I have to remind myself that I am a regular f****** person, I am human and I am, like everyone, capable of incredible things, my mental health condition does not define me. It is my superpower.”
She explained that she was diagnosed with the disorder after initially thinking she had clinical depression and bipolar disorder.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Lola said: “I have a history of it in the family – my uncle on my dad’s side had schizophrenia, and my mom’s brother had depression, and they both died.”
Earlier this month, she opened up on her cocaine addiction, which she said she dealt with for “a long time.”
“It’s been a struggle — I’ve definitely had to work on some internal healing while grappling with touring and stuff,” she told The Guardian.
“I’ve had to be away for a bit while battling with things. But it teaches you a lot, being addicted to substances. It makes you more empathetic about other people that have gone through that. It’s just a constant journey.”
She went on: “A lot of people don’t have the privilege of being able to do that. A lot of people suffer from addiction, and a lot of people are in that personal journey [to recovery]. Anyone who knows that feeling will know it’s not linear, it’s always up and down, but it’s down to dysregulation of dopamine.”
