Joining the ranks of swanky London enclaves, a Welsh suburb has bagged a spot for its healthfulness and charm, much to the delight of its residents. It stands as the lone Welsh representative in a fresh roundup of Britain’s poshest places to live, mingling with upscale districts like Herne Hill, a known celebrity haunt in London, and classic British locales such as North Central, Oxford.
Cardiff’s Lisvane has been recognised by the Telegraph as one of Britain’s most exclusive suburbs, thanks to insights from estate agency giant Savills. Snagging the 11th spot among its contemporaries, the locale boasts an impressive average property value of £501,428.
Telegraph journalist Anna White penned praises about Lisvane, noting, “Five miles north of Cardiff city centre is Lisvane. It is semi-rural, spread around the Lisvane and Llanishen Reservoirs which have become a hub for watersports, open water swimming, walking and cycling.”
“The creme de la creme streets include Lisvane Road, Graig Road, and Mill Road, where a free-standing residence is currently on the market via Jeffrey Ross for a cool £1.5m,” she continued. Emphasizing the local amenities, she remarked that the area is peppered with several nature sanctuaries, perfectly perched between the city’s urban reach and the rolling hills that lie beyond.
Rounding off her account, White shares, “Locals love: watching the Six Nations in the Black Griffin Inn.”, reports Wales Online.
James Thomas of Savills also weighed in, sharing his observations on the demographic drawn to the area: “Buyers are typically families who are attracted to the good primary school.”

It’s no wonder that areas like Lisvane have previously been recognised as desirable places to live, with James Douglas naming it the most sought-after spot in Cardiff in 2023.
Lisvane and Cyncoed, both situated in the north of Cardiff, were also voted the poshest parts of the city in a 2022 survey conducted by WalesOnline. So, what is it about these areas that entices people to invest in high-end properties?
