Inside Stacey Solomon’s ‘entitled and out of character’ rant that ‘blindsided’ the BBC and her team

Following Stacey’s snub at the BAFTAs, she expressed her frustration for the hard-working team behind Sort Your Life Out, which lost out to Rob Rinder and Rylan Clark’s travel show

Stacey Solomon’s “out of character” BAFTAs rant caused “horror” to BBC execs, who are worried her “entitled” Instagram video could be a “disaster” for her image. The mum-of-five even divided her usually adoring fan base with her comments, which came to light after her BBC show Sort Your Life Out failed to win at the BAFTAs last week.

The star’s reality show, which sees her help individuals to get rid of clutter and feel more organised in their homes, had been up for a BAFTA for Factual Entertainment. But Stacey was left “devastated” when her team lost out on the win, with Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour scooping the gong instead.

Stacey couldn’t keep her disappointment under wraps, instead sharing her feelings on Instagram with her followers. And it was then the tide started to turn against Stacey, with some fans and even Stacey herself admitting she didn’t take the loss “gracefully”.

And Stacey’s frank confession isn’t the first time recently that the cracks may be starting to show. With reports of her and husband Joe Swash arguing in the street plus their admission that they’re going to marriage counselling – one BBC exec has hinted the “gloss” is coming off for the broadcaster’s golden girl.

The Mail reports a BBC source said: “Stacey is television gold. She has made herself so appealing to young adults. It’s a BBC priority to attract the 18-to-30 age group and Stacey was the right person to do this, hence why she was given her fly-on-the-wall show. She’s seen as normal, relatable and a good laugh.

“So when she put her video up on Monday morning there was some horror here. It felt entitled and was all very out of character.”

They added that although they accept she was frustrated for her team, other teams “all work hard, too.” They added that the sweet image that powers Stacey’s popularity could be unravelling, which “would be a disaster for the BBC.” The Mirror has contacted Stacey’s rep and the BBC for comment.

Stacey’s now controversial video was filmed herself in her garden at Pickle Cottage the morning after the BAFTAs. She shared: “I’ll be honest, I’m devastated. I’m not handling it very well, not taking it very gracefully, I’m so gutted for our team.”

The Loose Women presenter added: “It’s not an easy show to make… the team works so hard to make it happen, and they so deserve a Bafta. People think making TV is really easy, and it’s not.

“We all pack up a house, and within seven days, that house is packed into vans, over to a warehouse, laid out on the floor. We go through it meticulously.

“We donate, we recycle, we resell, put it all back and try and put in systems to help families move forward.” Although the image of Stacey’s idyllic life may be starting to fade, her relatability and down-to-earth persona is what makes her so adored.

OK! magazine reports that Stacey has an “inferiority complex” and has taken recent events to heart. A source told the mag: “The negative comments really upset her, she takes them to heart. She never wants to be seen as ungrateful, because she’s not. She had a really humble upbringing and everything she does, she does to give her kids the best opportunities possible. They are what drives her.”
