A picturesque Spanish village is reportedly on the hunt for new residents, with homes going for as little as £33k (40,000 euros).
Coripe, a charming hamlet less than an hour from Seville in the Sierra Sur region of Andalusia, is known for its breathtaking natural beauty and traditional culture.
With around 1,200 current residents, the village is seeking to boost its population. It’s part of the Holapueblo initiative, a scheme led by IKEA, AlmaNatura, and Redeia, aimed at rejuvenating rural communities.
The Oleícola Coripeña Cooperative is a prime example of this effort. Moving to Coripe comes with numerous perks including a lower cost of living, ample job opportunities, and affordable housing.
Homes can be rented for 200 to 300 euros a month or purchased for between 40,000 to 50,000 euros, according to Mundo Deportivo. However, there are no municipal houses available, so newcomers will need to look at private listings.
The town’s mayor, José Godino Romero, stresses that the village encourages entrepreneurial initiatives, making it an ideal location for remote professional projects, thanks to the presence of a co-working space, reports Noticias Trabajo.
The village is a charming spot, known for its local festivals, agricultural economy and rural cuisine. It’s famous for its Easter Sunday celebrations, where effigies are traditionally burnt.
The Spanish village encourages entrepreneurship in areas like rural tourism and agri-food, reports the Express. As part of Andalusia’s rich culinary scene, Coripe offers dishes made with locally sourced olive oil, fresh produce, and traditional Spanish recipes.
Just under an hour’s drive from Seville, it’s the perfect destination for those wanting a mix of rural charm and city convenience.
