A health ministry in the Gaza Strip today said one United Nations worker was killed and five others left severely injuries in a strike on a headquarters in the area
An Israeli strike in Gaza has allegedly killed a United Nations (UN) worker after their headquarters was struck.
The UN staff member was killed and five others were wounded in a strike today on a headquarters in the Gaza Strip. The health ministry in Gaza said today there was “one death and five severe injuries among foreign staff working for UN institutions…due to the bombing of their headquarters by the occupation in the central governorate a short while ago.”
Jorge Moreira da Silva, who head the UN Office for Project Services, did not say who carried out the attack in Deir al-Balah. He also did not share the nationalities of the workers who were killed or wounded.
Israel denies the attack, although it has carried out a series of airstrikes since early on Tuesday. Mr da Silva added the agency had contacted the Israeli military following the first strike and said it was aware of the facility’s location.
He said: “Israel knew this was a UN premise, that people were living, staying and working there.”
