I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here fans were quick to react to Ant and Dec’s Wagatha Christie
Fans of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here were left split as hosts Ant & Dec made yet another jibe towards the Wagatha Christie case involving campmate Coleen Rooney and rival WAG Rebekah Vardy.
The wife of Wayne Rooney went head to head in court as Dancing On Ice’s Rebekah launched a libel case against the Liverpudlian following her infamous tweet. In 2019, Coleen took to social media claiming that Rebekah’s Instagram account was responsible for leaking stories to the press, an allegation which she denies.
And Geordie duo Ant & Dec started Monday’s edition of the ITV series with another gag referencing the battle. Dec said: “Coleen talks about the trial of the century and recovering her legal costs from Rebekah Vardy.”
Ant replied: “And in case you are wondering, that money went straight into… Coleen Rooney’s account.” Host Dec
Fans were quick to react to the on-going comments on social media. One user on Twitter/X said: “If i had a pound for each time ant & dec will mention rebekah vardy i’ll have made as much money as colleen rooney’s wage for being on this show #imaceleb.”
Another complained the pair were “ganging up” on Coleen and siding with the wife of Leicester City man, Jamie Vardy. However, some fans couldn’t wait for the episode after the gag. One user admitted: “As if Colleen gives us gossip in day 2, I thought we were going to have to work for the Wagatha Christie drama #ImACeleb,” while another added: “ant and decs wagatha christie jokes are never gonna get boring #imaceleb”
It emerged during the High Court case between Coleen and Rebekah that Caroline Watt, Rebekah’s former agent may have been responsible for posts from Coleen’s private Instagram being leaked, as she had access to Vardy’s account. But after Coleen shared her post with her millions of online followers, Rebekah became the subject of relentless abuse from vile social media trolls.
Coleen had previously spoke about the toll the abuse had on her and cried while appearing on Loose Women as she read one of the sickening messages. During her Disney+ series as she reflected on the abuse Rebekah had faced, Coleen said: “It was painful watching it.”
Coleen has now said she is hoping her I’m A Celeb stint will allow viewers to see the real her and know her as “Coleen from Liverpool”. When the Mirror asked her what she thinks about the name and the possibility of being remembered in a different light, Coleen revealed: “I think I’d rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool. Not from any other type of place. It’s just me, as I always have been, so hopefully people just think she’s that Scouser that she’s always been.”
