‘I’ve found the UK’s best and most magical Christmas market and it’s a hidden gem’

By staff27 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

A Christmas fan has shared the ‘best’ and ‘most magical’ Christmas market they’ve ever been to, and were even a bit reluctant to share it as it’s a ‘hidden gem’ – but decided it’s ‘too good not to’

It may still only be October, but it’s never too early to plan which Christmas markets you want to visit this year. As they often get very busy, and sometimes you need to book tickets, there’s no harm in being an early planner.

One Christmas fan has shared her “favourite Christmas market”, which is “so incredible” and she thinks is still quite a “hidden gem”. Because of that, she was a “bit reluctant” to share it, but she came to the conclusion that it is “too good” not to. Soraya often shares the best places to eat, drink, stay and explore in the Peak District.

Taking to TikTok, Soraya shared a video from when she visited Haddon Hall Christmas Market last year. Haddon Hall is a county house located on the River Wye near Bakewell in Derbyshire. It’s over 900 years old, with Medieval and Elizabethan architecture.

Explaining why she loves it, Soraya said: “It’s the most beautiful, magical Christmas market you’ll go to.” When visiting, the online content creator always picks up a mulled wine before heading to the “spectacular courtyard”. However, there are many “stunning” stalls both inside and outside of the hall.

She went on to explain that the hall is steeped in history, but has also been used as a filming location for many films. The hall dates back to the 11th century, and is one of the oldest houses in the country. You might also recognise it from films such as The Princess Bride (1986), Jane Eyre (1994), Pride and Prejudice (2004), Mary Queen of Scots (2018) and The King (2019).

Exploring further, Soraya said the decorations are “always stunning”, and she particularly enjoyed the Christmas tree where you can write and hang up a wish. “And the place is full of products that you’ll actually want to buy,” she added.

In addition, the hall offers “some of the best views in the Peak District and the food offering is always amazing”.

Many people couldn’t wait to visit this year. One person commented: “I live not far from it and I have never been!” and another wrote: “Thank you for sharing. I contemplated going last year and missed it. Been seeing the advert for it recently and I’m thinking of booking it.”

Others completely agreed with her. One person commented: “We absolutely LOVE Haddon Hall Christmas Market. Hands down the best around!” and another added: “Best Christmas market by far.”

Tickets can already be purchased for the Mercatum Christmas Artisan Market at Haddon Hall. It’s open from November 12 to December 14 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) and ticket prices are £12.80 for an adult, £4 for a child (five to 15 years), and infants (0 to four) are free. If you arrive by bus, bike or on foot you pay £9.50. You can book on the Haddon Hall website.
