Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack has shared the devastating message from an A-Lister that he read out at his music icon father’s funeral as he speaks out for the first time
Jack Osbourne has spoken out for the first time since the tragic death of his rock icon dad Ozzy Osbourne as he shared a touching message from his funeral. The Black Sabbath legend died in July aged 76 just weeks after performing his last ever show.
He had moved back to his beloved England with wife Sharon before his death and performed with his band at his farewell Back to the Beginning gig at Villa Park just 17 days before. Ozzy’s family held a private funeral just a week on from his death at their Buckinghamshire home.
They had paid their respects in front of fans in Birmingham, who lined the streets of Ozzy’s hometown. Now, Jack has opened up on the huge loss for the first time as he revealed he was in Los Angeles at the time of his father’s death.

He admitted it came as a shock to the family as “no one expected it to happen as quickly as it did.” Jack revealed just how much the outpouring of support has meant following Ozzy’s death.
“He was loved so much and a lot of people are going to miss him,” he said on his YouTube channel. “There’s this quote that I actually quoted this and of all people that said it and I don’t it’s always stuck stuck with me.
“I actually shared this at my at my father’s funeral. There’s an interview with Keanu Reeves. He’s on some nighttime talk show or whatever and they asked him, ‘What do you think happens when you die?’
“And Keanu Reeves answer was, ‘I don’t know what happens when you die, but what I do know is the people that love you miss you the most’.”
An emotional Jack added: “I felt that immensely. He wasn’t just a father to me. He was my colleague. We worked together in so many capacities.
“I had recently moved, there was a period where I was between houses and I moved back in with him. So, he was my housemate in my my late 30s and it was awesome. Me and the kids were living here. Just a friend, a text buddy, a joke cracker.”
Jack continued: “I had such a great relationship with him and I’m so grateful. I think that’s been the overwhelming feeling has been gratitude.
“Deep gratitude just I’m so grateful that he was my father.” Jack heartbreakingly revealed he was in Los Angeles when he received the call that Ozzy had died.
He headed back to the US after staying with Ozzy following his final show after cancelling a trip to Portugal because his kids were sick. “I’ve never been so grateful for my kids to have the stomach flu as I am today,” Jack admitted.
Speaking of the day Ozzy died, Jack recalled: “I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my house door at around 3:45 in the morning. someone who’s worked for my family for god probably 30 years now was was knocking on my door.
“When I looked through the my window and I saw it was him I just knew something bad had happened. I was informed that my father had passed.
“Just pain just sadness and pain and just so many thoughts. You go through this feeling sad and frustrated and angry and like this part of you that’s like I have to get there right now.”
