It comes just a few months before the pair are set to work together for the blockbuster trilogy showdown between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano
Eddie Hearn’s defamation lawsuit against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul will not proceed to trial after the two parties reached an out-of-court settlement.
Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing filed a lawsuit against the social media star three years ago after the young American accused the boxing promoter of paying off boxing judge Glenn Feldman immediately after the results of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua and the first clash between Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano.
The boxing judge faced some criticism for scoring the heavyweight rematch in Joshua’s favour. The first showdown between Taylor and Serrano – which was co-promoted by Hearn’s Matchroom and Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions – ended in a stunning split decision, where Matchroom’s Taylor emerged victorious.
Paul, at the time, was unhappy about Felman’s 97-93 scorecard for Taylor. “I still think Amanda Serrano won the fight,” Paul told iFL TV in a now deleted interview from September 2022. “And then you see how this judge Glenn Feldman, who had the biggest gap between Taylor and Serrano. Everyone pretty much had it a draw … a draw or that Amanda won.

“But there’s this judge, Glenn Feldman, who scored it such a big gap for Taylor, gave rounds that Amanda clearly won, to Taylor. Usyk had a runaway victory, clearly won the fight. This judge, Glenn Feldman, gives it to Anthony Joshua? It’s like a repeated crime here. This type of s***, I’m going to call it out here in boxing because it’s b*****. Clearly, this guy is getting paid money by Matchroom Boxing.” Following the American’s comments, Hearn filed a lawsuit and, according to his lawyer, was seeking damages in excess of $100m. Last October, ‘The Problem Child’ countersued after unsuccessfully getting the Matchroom suit dismissed by a New York judge a month beforehand.
However, the plaintiffs Hearn and his company Matchroom Boxing, as well as plaintiff intervenor Glenn Feldman and Paul notified a New York court on March 18 that all parties have agreed on a settlement in the defamation case. Attorneys for the aforementioned names officially filed for dismissal on Monday – first reported by BoxingScene.
A filing on Monday with the United States District Court, Southern District of New York officially read: “It is hereby stipulated and agreed, by the undersigned counsel of record for the parties herein, pursuant to Rule 41(a)(1)(ii) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, that the above-captioned action is dismissed with prejudice and without costs or fees to either party.”
A separate filing last month read: “Plaintiffs Matchroom Boxing Limited (“Matchroom”) and Edward John Hearn (“Hearn”), Plaintiff-Intervenor Glenn Feldman (“Feldman”) (collectively the “Plaintiffs”), and Defendant Jake Paul (“Paul”) (collectively referred to herein as the “Parties”) jointly submit this letter to notify the Court that the Parties have entered into a Settlement Agreement. Pursuant to the terms thereof, the Parties expect to file a Stipulation of Dismissal on or before March 31, 2025.”
